GRT detours buses during Mill Street construction,
starting March 26



The City of Kitchener is closing

  • Mill Street between Sterling Avenue South and Queen Street South

for about eight months, starting Monday, March 26, during a project to rebuild the roadway .

Grand River Transit is detouring buses operating along the 2 Forest Hill route while the road is closed.


2 Forest Hill

From Monday, March 26 until Friday, November 30, inbound buses operate along their regular route to Highland Road East and Spadina Road East, then detour

westward along Highland East; and then
northward along Queen Street South to Mill Street,
resuming their regular route northward along Queen South.

Inbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Spadina Road East across from Woodward Avenue and
  • on Mill Street across from Lansdowne Boulevard and east of Queen Street South.

Instead, inbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Highland Road East at Spadina Road East,
  • on Queen Street South north of Mill Street.

Outbound buses reverse the detour routing.

Outbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Mill Street at Iron Horse Trail and Lansdowne Boulevard and
  • on Spadina Road East across from Russell Street and at Highland Road East.

Instead, outbound buses drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Queen Street South at Schneider Street and Homewood Avenue and
  • on Highland Road East east of Spadina Road East.
