TTC detouring Queen streetcars during rewiring work,
Late evenings, overnight, May 28 to May 31



The TTC is replacing the overhead streetcar wiring along Queen Street West between Lisgar and Bathurst Streets from 9 p.m. tonight until 5 a.m. tomorrow and nightly until 5 a.m. Thursday, May 31.

It’s detouring streetcars operating along the 301 Queen overnight and 501 Queen routes during the work. Shuttle buses replace the streetcars, operating between Sunnyside Loop and University Avenue.

From 9 p.m. tonight, Monday, May 28 until 5 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, May 29 and nightly after 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Thursday, May 31, eastbound cars operate along their regular route to The Queensway and Roncesvalles Avenue / King Street West, then detour:

eastward along King Street West; and then
northward along Spadina Avenue to Queen Street West,
resuming their regular route eastward along Queen.

Eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Queen Street West at Wilson Park Road, Dowling, Jameson, Dunn and Cowan Avenues, across from Brock Avenue, at Dufferin Street, across from Gladstone Avenue, at Abell Street, Dovercourt Road, Ossington Avenue, Shaw Street, Strachan Avenue, Niagara, Tecumseh and Bathurst Streets and Augusta and Spadina Avenues.

Instead, eastbound cars drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on King Street West across from Wilson Park Road, at Dowling, Jameson, Dunn and Spencer Avenues, at Dufferin Street, Fraser and Atlantic Avenues, Sudbury and Shaw Streets, Strachan Avenue, Niagara, Tecumseh, Bathurst and Portland Streets, across from Brant Street and at Spadina Avenue and
  • on Spadina Avenue north of King Street West and at Richmond Street West.

Eastbound passengers may transfer to the shuttle buses replacing regular streetcar service at the Queensway and Roncesvalles Avenue / King Street West.

Westbound cars reverse the detour routing.

  • on Queen Street West at Augusta Avenue, Bathurst Street, Palmerston and Claremont Avenues, across from Strachan Avenue, at Shaw Street, Ossington Avenue, Dovercourt Road, Beaconsfield and Gladstone Avenues, Dufferin Street and Brock, O’Hara, Lansdowne, Sorauren, Triller and Roncesvalles Avenues.

Instead, westbound cars drop off and pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Spadina Avenue south of Queen Street West and
  • on King Street West at Brant, Portland, Bathurst, Tecumseh and Niagara Streets, Strachan Avenue, Shaw and Sudbury Streets, across from Jefferson Avenue, at Joe Schuster Way, Dufferin Street, Spencer, Dunn, Jameson and Dowling Avenues and west of Wilson Park Road.

Westbound passengers may transfer to the shuttle buses replacing regular streetcar service at any stop on Queen Street West between University and Spadina Avenues.

301 / 501 Queen shuttle bus

From 9 p.m. tonight, Monday, May 28 until 5 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, May 29 and nightly after 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Thursday, May 31, eastbound buses start their trips in Sunnyside Loop, then proceed:

southward along Sunnyside Avenue; and then
eastward along The Queensway and Queen Street West to University Avenue,
ending their trips.

(Although the TTC has not confirmed the exact route of the east-end loop for the buses, in the past the TTC has looped eastbound buses ending their trips at Queen Street West and University Avenue:

southward along University;
eastward along Adelaide Street West;
northward along York Street; and then
westward along Queen Street West to University Avenue,
where the buses start their westbound trips.)

  • in Sunnyside Loop,
  • on The Queensway at King Street West,
  • on Queen Street West at Wilson Park Road, Dowling, Jameson, Dunn and Cowan Avenues, across from Brock Avenue, at Dufferin Street, across from Gladstone Avenue, at Abell Street, Dovercourt Road, Ossington Avenue, Shaw Street, Strachan Avenue, Niagara, Tecumseh and Bathurst Streets and Augusta and Spadina Avenues, Peter, John and Duncan Streets and University Avenue.

Eastbound passengers may transfer from the buses to the streetcars at any stop on Queen Street West between Spadina and University Avenues.

Westbound buses start their trips at Queen Street West and University Avenue, then proceed:

westward along Queen West and The Queensway; and then
northward into Sunnyside Loop,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Queen Street West at University Avenue, west of Simcoe Street, at McCaul, John and Soho Streets, Spadina and Augusta Avenues, Bathurst Street, Palmerston and Claremont Avenues, across from Strachan Avenue, at Shaw Street, Ossington Avenue, Dovercourt Road, Beaconsfield and Gladstone Avenues, Dufferin Street and Brock, O’Hara, Lansdowne, Sorauren, Triller and Roncesvalles Avenues and
  • in Sunnyside Loop.

Westbound passengers may transfer from the buses to the streetcars at Queen Street West and Roncesvalles Avenue.


The TTC resumes this project and the detours next week, starting at 9 p.m. Sunday, June 3 and continuing overnight nightly until 5 a.m. Thursday, June 7.
