Subway construction blocks more lanes
on Steeles Avenue West, starting August 29

Starting this afternoon, Wednesday, August 29, TTC contractors working on the project to extend the 1 Yonge - University - Spadina subway beyond Downsview Station northwest to Vaughan will block more lanes of traffic on Steeles Avenue West, near the site of the future Steeles West Station.

The work diverts traffic on Steeles West to the north side of the roadway in both directions. Just two lanes n each direction remain open to traffic. The work also blocks the sidewalk along the south side of Steeles west of Founders Road.

Toronto Police Service “paid-duty” officers will be on Steeles Avenue West to direct traffic during the lane restrictions.

The subway construction project will continue to restrict traffic along Steeles Avenue West over the next three years. Construction activity has affected this part of Steeles Avenue West since Monday, April 2.

TTC passengers riding buses operating along the 60 Steeles West route and York Region Transit passengers riding buses operating along the 10 York U - Woodbridge and 20 Jane - Concord routes should continue to expect delays.
