TTC detours streetcars during Queen overhead upgrades,
overnight, starting November 5



TTC crews are upgrading the streetcar overhead (wiring) along Queen Streets West and East between Spadina Avenue and Victoria Street overnight nightly this week, starting at 10 p.m. tonight, Monday, November 5.

It’s detouring streetcars operating along the 301 Queen overnight and 501 Queen route to accommodate the work. Shuttle buses replace the cars. The work continues until 5 a.m. November 8.


301 Queen overnight
501 Queen

From 10 p.m., Monday, November 5 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, November 6 and continuing overnight nightly between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. until early Thursday, November 8, eastbound cars operate along their regular route to Queen Street West and Spadina Avenue, then detour:

southward along Spadina;
eastward along King Streets West and East; and then
northward along Church Street to Queen East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Queen.

Eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Queen Street West at Peter, John and Duncan Streets, University Avenue and York, Bay and Yonge Streets and
  • on Queen Street East at Victoria and Church Streets.

Instead, eastbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on King Street East at Blue Jays Way, John and Simcoe Streets, University Avenue and York, Bay and Yonge Streets,
  • on King Street East at Church Street and
  • on Church Street at Lombard Street and at Queen Street East.

Westbound cars reverse the eastbound detour routing.

Westbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on Queen Street East at Victoria and Yonge Streets and
  • on Queen Street West at Bay Street, across from York Street, at University Avenue, west of Simcoe Street, at McCaul, John and Soho Streets and Spadina Avenue.

Instead westbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Church Street at Richmond, Adelaide and King Streets East,
  • on King Street East at Yonge Street and
  • on King Street West at Bay and York Streets, University Avenue, Simcoe, John and Peter Streets and at Spadina Avenue.
301 / 501 Queen shuttle buses

From 10 p.m., Monday, November 5 until 5 a.m. Tuesday, November 6 and continuing overnight nightly between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. until early Thursday, November 8, eastbound buses start their trips in Wolseley Loop (on the east side of Bathurst Street just north of Queen Street West), then proceed:

southward along Bathurst;
eastward along Queen Streets West and East;
northward along Church Street; and then
eastward along Shuter Street to Jarvis Street,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on Queen Street West at Augusta and Spadina Avenues, Peter, John and Duncan Streets, University Avenue and York, Bay and Yonge Streets and
  • on Queen Street East at Victoria and Church Streets.

Westbound buses start their trips on Shuter Street at Jarvis Street, then proceed:

southward along Jarvis;
westward along Queen Streets East and West;
northward along Bathurst Street; and then
eastward into Wolseley Loop,
ending their trips.

  • on Queen Street East at Church, Victoria and Yonge Streets and
  • on Queen Street West at Bay Street, across from York Street, at University Avenue, west of Simcoe Street, at McCaul, John and Soho Streets, Spadina and Augusta Avenues and Bathurst Street.
