Brampton Transit revises routes and services, November 26

Update — Monday, December 18, 2014, 10:04 a.m.: Passengers are now using the westbound Torbram Züm station.

Brampton Transit makes two major changes to its routes and services, starting this Monday, November 26.

First, it opens a new terminal on the northwest corner of Main Street South and Steeles Avenue West. The Brampton Gateway Terminal replaces the current Shoppers World Terminal further west along Steeles.

Second, it expands its Züm bus rapid transit network by introducing service along the Steeles corridor between the new Gateway Terminal and Humber College’s North Campus.

It’s also increasing the frequency of service along the current 502 Züm Main route Monday-to-Friday midday.

Brampton Transit is revising service along these routes: 2 Main, 3 McLaughlin, 4 / 4A Chinguacousy, 7 Kennedy, 8 Centre, 10 South Industrial, 11 Steeles, 13 Avondale, 14 Torbram, 15 Bramalea, 23 Sandalwood, 24 Van Kirk, 25 Edenbrook, 30 Airport Road, 40 Central Industrial, 50 Gore Road, 502 Züm Main, 511 Züm Steeles.

Specifically, Brampton Transit is: introducing a new route; increasing service along a current route; increasing the frequency of service along current routes; decreasing the frequency of service along a current route; and adjusting the schedules of current routes.

Introducing a new route

511 Züm Steeles

Brampton Transit is expanding its bus rapid transit network to include this new service along Steeles Avenue East between the new Brampton Gateway Terminal at Shoppers World to Humber College’s North Campus. By introducing this service, Brampton Transit also decreases the frequency of service along the local 11 Steeles route.

Starting Monday, November 26, buses drop off and pick up passengers at Züm stations along the route every 7 minutes Mondays to Fridays during rush hours, every 12 minutes midday, every 14 minutes from about 7 until 9 p.m. and every 20 minutes after 9 p.m.

Starting Saturday, December 1, the buses serve the stops every 20 minutes Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

The rapid Züm buses only stop at major intersections, providing a faster, more direct route. Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at these new Züm stations:

  • Brampton Gateway Terminal
  • Kennedy Road
  • First Gulf Boulevard
  • Tomken Road
  • Dixie Road
  • Bramalea Road

  • Goreway Drive

  • Torbram Road
  • Bramalea Road

  • Rutherford Road
  • Kennedy Road
  • Brampton Gateway Terminal

Eastbound buses start their trips at platform 8 in the new terminal, then proceed:

southward along Main Street South;
eastward along Steeles Avenue East;
southeastward along Finch Avenue [Brampton / Mississauga] and Finch Avenue West [Toronto];
southeastward along Humber College Boulevard to a Züm station on the south side of the street beside the North Campus,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses start their trips on the south side of Humber College Boulevard beside the North Campus, then proceed:

eastward along Humber College;
northward along Highway 27;
west- and northwestward along Finch Avenue West [Toronto] and Finch Avenue [Mississauga / Brampton];
westward along Steeles Avenue East and West; and then
northward into Brampton Gateway Terminal,
ending their trips at platform 8.
