As the fall academic term winds up, fewer passengers travel by transit to and from campuses. Local transit agencies are gradually decreasing extra service to colleges and universities. Some also temporarily increase or revise services while students write exams.
Next week, GO Transit is decreasing some of its bus services to and from Durham College’s North Oshawa Campus, McMaster University, Trent University, the University of Guelph, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT), the University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University and York University.
Starting Thursday, December 6, the St. Catharines Transit Commission increases service to Brock University during exams.
Also starting Thursday, December 6, Peterborough Transit decreases the frequency of service along its regular express services to and from Trent University, but during exams, but also operates extra buses during peak periods just before and just after each set of examinations.
Starting Friday, December 7, Niagara Falls Transit and Welland Transit also increase service to Brock.
Many local transit agencies will decrease or eliminate extra service to and from colleges and universities from Friday, December 21 until Sunday, January 6, 2013.
