TTC raises fares, January 1

Most TTC fares are increasing starting New Year’s Day, Tuesday, January 1, 2013. However, cash fares remain the same as in 2012 — $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and students and 75 cents for children.

The price increase particularly affects the cost of tokens and tickets. Starting January 1, you can buy three adult tokens for $7.95 and seven for $18.55, while currently you pay $7.80 for three and $18.20 for seven. Senior and student tickets increase to five for $9 and ten for $18, instead of five for $8.75 and ten for $17.50. The cost of children’s tickets remains at $6 for ten.

The cost for buying monthly Metropasses remains the same in 2013 as it is in 2012, but the cost for weekly passes is going up. The weekly passes will cost $38.50, instead of $37.50, for adults and $30.50, instead of $29.75 for students and seniors. The price of day passes is increasing, too — to $10.75, instead of $10.50.

You can view a complete list of 2012 and 2013 TTC fares here.
