New Year’s Eve, this Monday, December 31, many people will likely knock off work early to get a head start on the holidays — or to get ready for a night of ringing in the new year.
GO Transit and other transit agencies are responding by starting afternoon rush-hour service earlier in the day — around noon. (Unofficially, the TTC does this too.) GO’s “early homebound” rush-hour service, in turn, requires local transit agencies including MiWay, York Region Transit, Brampton Transit and Oakville Transit to revise the schedules of buses that usually meet GO trains to take passengers into residential neighbourhoods.

Buses operate with revised schedules in the afternoon to meet all trains on GO Transit’s 31 Georgetown line at Bramalea Station. (GO is operating earlier trains that arrive in Bramalea at 2:06 and 3:06 p.m. It’s cancelling the trains that usually arrive in Bramalea at 5:49, 6:19 and 7:19 p.m. All other trains operate on their regular schedule).
Brampton Transit is also decreasing rush-hour service along several routes throughout the holiday season.

Trains
GO operates a late southbound and earlier northbound trains along the line.
The late southbound train leaves Allandale Waterfront GO Station at 8 p.m. It serves all stations along the line and ends its trip in Union Station at 8:41 p.m.
Early trains leave Union at 12:40 and 1:40 p.m. The trains serve all stations along the line until Allandale Waterfront, ending their trips at 2:23 and 3:23 p.m.
Another early train leaves Union at 2:40 p.m. The train serves all stations until East Gwillimbury GO Station, ending its trip at 3:43 p.m.
GO is canceling the trains that usually leave Union at 4:40 and 5:35 p.m. (The trains usually end their trips in Allandale at 6:23 and 7:18 p.m.
To accommodate the revised train schedule, GO is canceling many bus trips along the 65 route or adjusting their schedules. It’s also revising service along the 63 King City / Toronto and [68] Barrie / Newmarket routes.

Since GO expects most passengers heading toward Aurora, Newmarket and East Gwillimbury to travel aboard the earlier trains, it’s cancelling many northbound buses leaving Union Station GO Bus Terminal in the early afternoon.

To accommodate passengers connecting with the earlier trains, GO is revising the schedule for the buses that usually leave Newmarket GO Bus Terminal at 1:20 and 2:20 p.m. The buses arrive in Bradford GO Station bus terminal to pick up train passengers at 1:55 and 2:55 p.m. and end their trips in Downtown Barrie Terminal at 2:47 and 3:47 p.m.
GO is operating another early train that ends its trip in East Gwillimbury GO Station at 3:43 p.m. To accommodate passengers connecting with this train, GO revises the schedule for the bus that usually leaves Newmarket at 3:35 p.m. It arrives in East Gwillimbury at 3:45 p.m. to pick up train passengers and ends its trip in Barrie at 5 p.m.

To accommodate passengers connecting with the early train, GO operates an early bus. The bus leaves York Mills GO Bus Terminal at 1:45 p.m. It arrives in Etobicoke North GO Station bus terminal at 2:15 p.m. It ends its trip on Albion - Vaughan Road north of Industrial Road at 3:25 p.m.
GO has canceled the westbound train operating along the 31 Kitchener line that usually arrives in Etobicoke North at 4:37 p.m. However, GO will still operate the regular westbound bus that usually connects with this train. The bus leaves York Mills at 4:10 p.m., arrives in Etobicoke North at 4:40 p.m. and ends its trip in Bolton at 5:50 p.m.

Since GO expects most passengers heading toward Vaughan and King City to travel aboard earlier trains along the 61 Barrie line, it’s cancelling all northbound buses leaving Union Station GO Bus Terminal that usually operate along this route in the early afternoon.
Specifically, it’s cancelling the buses that usually leave Union at 12:20, 1:20, 2:20, 2:50 and 3:30 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips on Keele Street across from Station Street near the King City GO Station at 1:30, 2:30, 3:30, 4:05 and 5 p.m.)

GO operates a later eastbound and earlier westbound trains along the line.
The late eastbound train leaves Mount Pleasant GO Station at 8:40 p.m., serves all stations along the line and ends its trip in Union Station at 9:32 p.m.

It’s also canceling eastbound buses leaving Brampton and Bramalea GO Stations in the early evening.

It’s cancelling the westbound bus that usually leaves Union Station GO Bus Terminal at 11:50 a.m. Instead, it’s operating the bus on a shorter trip from Downtown Brampton Terminal. The bus leaves Brampton at 12:35 p.m., as usual, serves all stops along the route and ends its trip in the University Centre Terminal on the University of Guelph campus at its usual time of 2:15 p.m.

GO is extending the trip of the train that usually leaves Union at 4:13 p.m. Instead of ending its trip in Oakville GO Station, the train serves all stops until Aldershot GO Station, arriving at 5:18 p.m. A bus operating along the 18 Lakeshore West route connects with the train in Aldershot to carry passengers further westward. A bus operating along the 12 Niagara Falls / Burlington route meets the train at Burlington GO Station to carry passengers towards Niagara Region.

To accommodate the revised train schedule, GO is canceling many bus trips along the 21 route, or adjusting their schedules. It’s also revising service along the 25 Waterloo / Mississauga route to maintain service for passengers traveling further westward.

Since GO expects most passengers heading toward Mississauga and Milton to travel aboard the earlier trains, it’s cancelling most westbound buses leaving Union Station GO Bus Terminal in the early afternoon. It’s also revising the schedule for mid-evening eastbound buses.

It’s cancelling the westbound buses that usually leave Union at 12:30, 1, 1:30, 1:50, 2:10, 2:30, 2:45, 3, 3:15 and 3:25 p.m. (The buses usually end their trips in Milton GO Station bus terminal at 1:35, 2:05, 2:40, 3, 3:20, 3:40, 4, 4:20, 4:40 and 4:50 p.m.)
It’s also adjusting the schedule so that the westbound buses that usually leave Union at 8:20 and 9:20 p.m. leave ten minutes later than usual at 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. The buses serve all stops along this branch of the route, ending their trips in Milton at 9:40 and 10:35 p.m.
