Leslie Street upgrades and track installation:
TTC detours, July 2 until October



Update — Thursday, March 6, 2014, 6:12 p.m.: Starting today, the TTC is further detouring buses operating along the 83 Jones route, due to construction at Queen Street East and Leslie Street.


Update — Friday, September 13, 7:46 p.m.: Starting Thursday, September 19, the City is closing parts of Leslie Street north of Lake Shore Boulevard East to all traffic. The TTC is revising the detour routing for buses operating along the 83 Jones route that day.


City of Toronto and TTC contractors working to upgrade the street and install streetcar tracks on Leslie Street continue this weekend and next week.

They’re building new tracks to connect the future Leslie Barns streetcar maintenance and storage facility to the tracks on Queen Street East.

Starting Tuesday, July 2, the work blocks traffic lanes on Leslie Street between Mosley Street and Lake Shore Boulevard East.

The TTC is detouring buses operating along the 83 Jones route, to accommodate the work.


83 Jones

From Tuesday, July 2 until October, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Jones Avenue and Queen Street East, then detour:

westward along Queen East;
southward along Carlaw Avenue; and then
westward along Commissioners Street to #545 Commissioners across from Lakeshore Garage,
ending their trips.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Leslie Street south of Queen Street East at Eastern Avenue, south of Mosley Street and Lake Shore Boulevard East and at Commissioners Street and
  • on Commissioners Street beside #600 Commissioners Street and beside the Lakeshore Garage Loop and
  • in Lakeshore Garage at the WheelTrans exit onto Commissioners Street.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Queen Street East at Brooklyn and Pape Avenues,
  • on Carlaw Avenue at Eastern Avenue, at Lake Shore Boulevard East, south of Lake Shore Boulevard East and at Commissioners Street and
  • on Commissioners Street across from Lakeshore Garage.

Northbound buses start their trips on Commissioners Street across from Lakeshore Garage, then proceed:

eastward along Commissioners;
northward along Leslie Street;
westward along Lake Shore Boulevard East;
northward along Carlaw Avenue; and then
eastward along Eastern Avenue to Leslie Street,
resuming their regular route northward along Leslie.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • in Lakeshore Garage at the WheelTrans exit onto Commissioners Street and
  • on Leslie Street across from Mosley Street.

Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Carlaw Avenue north of Lake Shore Boulevard East.
