The City of Toronto is closing
- York Street between Queen and Richmond Street West and
- Queen Street between University Avenue and York Street
for about three weeks, starting tomorrow, Saturday, June 29 for a construction project. (The TTC describes the project as “a City of Toronto watermain project”. The City describes the job as “streetcar track reconstruction and road work”.
Regardless, the TTC is detouring streetcars operating along the 301 Queen overnight, 501 Queen and 502 Downtowner routes, while the intersection is closed.
The TTC is not providing buses to replace the cars between Spadina Avenue and Church Street during construction.

From Tuesday, July 2 until Sunday, July 28, eastbound cars start their trips on Victoria Street south of Queen Street East, then proceed:
along their regular route eastward along Queen East.
Eastbound cars skip their regular stops
- in McCaul Loop,
- on McCaul Street at Stephanie Street and
- on Queen Street West at University Avenue, York, Bay and Yonge Streets and
- on Queen Street East at Victoria Street.
Instead, eastbound buses pick up passengers at a temporary stop
- on Victoria Street at Queen Street East.
Eastbound passengers transferring from subway trains operating along the 1 Yonge - University - Spadina line at Queen Station may walk east along Queen Street East from Yonge to Victoria Street and board streetcars on the southeast corner of Queen East and Victoria.
Westbound cars operate along their regular route to Queen Street East and Church Street, then detour:
southward along Church;
westward along Richmond Street East; and then
northward along Victoria Street to Queen East,

- on Queen Street East at Victoria and Yonge Streets,
- on Queen Street West at Bay Street, University Avenue, west of Simcoe Street and at McCaul Street,
- on McCaul Street across from Stephanie Street and
- in McCaul Loop.

- on Victoria Street at Queen Street East.
Westbound passengers may walk east along Queen Street East from Victoria Street to Yonge Street and board subway trains operating along the 1 Yonge - University - Spadina line at Queen Station.
Streetcars continue to detour at the east end of their route during streetcar track construction on Kingston Road.

From 6 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, June 29 until 5 a.m. Sunday, July 28, eastbound cars operate along their regular route to Queen Street West and Spadina Avenue, then detour:
southward along Spadina;
eastward along King Streets West and East; and then
northward along Church Street to Queen East,
resuming their regular route eastward along Queen.Eastbound cars skip their regular stops
- on Queen Street West at Peter, John and Duncan Streets, at University Avenue, York, Bay and Yonge Streets and
- on Queen Street East at Victoria and Church Streets.
Instead, eastbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

- on King Street East at Blue Jays Way, John and Simcoe Streets, University Avenue, York, Bay and Yonge Streets,
- on King Street East at Church Street and
- on Church Street at Lombard Street and at Queen Street East.
Westbound cars reverse the detour routing.

- on Queen Street East at Victoria and Yonge Streets,
- on Queen Street West at Bay Street, University Avenue, west of Simcoe Street, at McCaul, John and Soho Streets and Spadina Avenue.

Passengers riding streetcars operating along the 501 Queen route may transfer to and from subway trains operating along the 1 Yonge - University - Spadina line at King or St. Andrew Stations.
