Davis Drive rapidway construction:
overnight, August 1 to 2

Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue the project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Davis Drive in Newmarket.

As construction progresses on Davis Drive, the contractors are moving to the next phase of shifting the traffic lanes and accommodate work to widen the road and replace underground infrastructure. Crews will be working overnight tomorrow, Thursday, August 1 to repaint the traffic lines on Davis Drive between Roxborough Road and Bayview Parkway near the Tannery mall. Expect noise.

They work from 7 p.m. Thursday, August 1 until 7 a.m. Friday, August 2, occasionally closing traffic lanes.

A “paid-duty” York Regional Police officer will be on site to direct traffic.

Once the crews have finished their work, they’ll have reduced Davis Drive to one lane in each direction from Roxborough Road to the Tannery. They’ll continue to reduce lanes between Main and Yonge Streets to accommodate ongoing work to widen the road.
