TTC testing new streetcars overnight,
diverting service, starting October 27



The City of Toronto is closing

  • Queen Street East between River and Parliament Streeta

overnight from 11 p.m. Sunday, October 27 until 4:30 a.m. Monday, October 28 and continuing overnight nightly until 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, so that the TTC can test its new, low-floor, accessible streetcars.

The TTC is detouring streetcars operating along the 301 Queen overnight, 501 Queen and 504 King cars, while the street is closed. Buses replace the 301 / 501 Queen services. Streetcars operating along the 504 King route are already detouring overnight from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, October 27 during switch repairs at King Street East and Parliament Street. Buses replace the 504 King cars Sunday daytime only.

From 7:00 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, October 27, westbound cars start their trips on Dundas Street East at Broadview Avenue, then proceed:

southward along along Broadview;
westward along Queen Street East; and then
southward along Church Street to King Street East,
resuming their regular route westward along King East.

Westbound cars skip their regular westbound stops

  • in Broadview Station terminal,
  • on Erindale Avenue at Broadview Avenue,
  • on Broadview Avenue at Danforth Avenue, across from Wolfrey Avenue, Millbrook Crescent, Bain, Withrow and Langley Avenues, Jack Layton Way, Gerrard Street East, across from Mount Stephen Street, at Dundas and Queen Streets East.
  • on Broadview Avenue at Queen Street East,
  • on Queen Street East at Carroll Street and
  • on King Street East at River, Sumach and Sackville Streets, across from Trinity Street and at Parliament, Ontario, Sherbourne, Jarvis and Church Streets.

They also skip westbound stops along their current detour routing:

  • on Queen Street East at River, Sumach, Sackville and Parliament Streets and
  • on Parliament Street at Richmond, Adelaide and King Streets East.

Eastbound cars operate along their regular route to King Street East and Church Street, then detour:

northward along Church;
eastward along Queen Street East;
northward along Parliament; and then
eastward along Dundas Street East to Broadview Avenue,
ending their trips.

Eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on King Street East at Jarvis, Sherbourne, Ontario, Parliament, Trinity, Sackville, Sumach and St. Lawrence Streets,
  • on Queen Street East across from Carroll Street and at Broadview Avenue and
  • on Broadview Avenue north of Queen Street East, at Dundas Street East, Mount Stephen Street, Gerrard Street East, Simpson, Langley and Withrow Avenues, north of Bain Avenue, Millbrook Crescent and Wolfrey and Danforth Avenues and
  • in Broadview Station terminal.

They also skip eastbound stops along their current detour routing:

  • on Parliament Street at Richmond and Queen Streets East.
  • on Queen Street East at Sackville, Sumach and River Streets.

Buses replace the cars on Broadview Avenue north of Gerrard Street East.

504 King shuttle bus

From 7:00 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday, October 27, westbound buses start their trips in Broadview Station terminal, then proceed:

westward along Erindale Avenue;
southward along Broadview Avenue; and then
westward along Queen Street East
southward along Parliament Street; and then
westward along King Street East to Yonge Street,
ending their trip.

Westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • in Broadview Station terminal,
  • on Erindale Avenue at Broadview Avenue,
  • on Broadview Avenue at Danforth Avenue, across from Wolfrey Avenue, Millbrook Crescent, Bain, Withrow and Langley Avenues, Jack Layton Way, Gerrard Street East, Mount Stephen Street, Dundas and Queen Streets East,
  • on Queen Street East at Carroll, River, Sumach, Sackville and Parliament Streets
  • on Parliament Street at Richmond, Adelaide and King Streets East and
  • on King Street East at Ontario, Sherbourne, Jarvis, Church and Yonge Streets.

Eastbound buses start their trips on King Street West at Yonge Street, then proceed:

eastward along King Street East;
northward along Berkeley Street,
eastward along Adelaide Street East;
northward along Parliament Street;
eastward along Queen Street East,
northward along Broadview Avenue; and then
eastward into Broadview Station,
ending their tips.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops

  • on King Street West at Yonge Street,
  • on King Street East at Victoria, Church, Jarvis, Sherbourne and Ontario Streets,
  • on Parliament Street at Richmond and Queen Streets East,
  • on Queen Street East at Sackville, Sumach and River Streets, across from Carroll Street and at Broadview Avnue and
  • on Broadview Avenue north of Queen Street East, at Dundas Street East, Mount Stephen Street, Gerrard Street East, Simpson, Langley and Withrow Avenues, north of Bain Avenue, Millbrook Crescent and Wolfrey and Danforth Avenues and
  • in Broadview Station terminal.
