Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue to work on the project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway.
Although construction is starting to slow down for the winter, work is still continuing over the next few weeks:
- between Warden Avenue and Highway 404 — Starting Monday, December 9 from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day: Contractors are closing multiple lanes. Expect heavier traffic than usual. Work continues until December 13.
- Cedarland Drive — Contractors are closing the street to traffic until the end of August 2014.
- Town Centre Boulevard / South Town Centre Boulevard — Starting Monday, December 9 from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day, contractors are intermittently closing south- and northbound lanes north and south of Highway 7. This phase of the work continues until December 13.
- South Town Centre Boulevard — Contractors have started relocating utilities. Crews will close more lanes on Highway 7, requiring motorists to detour along Courtyard Lane as an alternate route. Work continues until March 2014.
- Rodick Road — Contractors are closing the southbound curb lanes south of Highway 7 to allow for pedestrian access. Work continues until December 20.
- Fairburn Drive — Contractors are closing south- and northbound lanes south of Highway 7 to allow for pedestrian access. Work continues until December 20.
- Lunar Crescent — Starting Monday, December 9 from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day: contractors are closing south- and northbound curb lanes closed of Highway 7. Work continues until December 20.
- Woodbine Avenue — From 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day: Contractors are closing the southbound left-turn lane north of Highway 7. Work continues until December 20.
- Woodbine Avenue — Contractors are intermittently closing south- and northbound lanes north and south of Highway 7. Traffic will be heavier than usual. Work continues until December 20.
- at Highway 404: Daily lane closures from Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Work continues until December 20.
TTC passengers riding buses operating along the 24 Victoria Park, 68 Warden and 224 Victoria Park North routes and York Region Transit passengers riding buses operating along the Viva pink, Viva purple and 1 Highway 7 routes should expect delays.
