Work continues, starting February 3

City of Toronto and TTC contractors continue the project to upgrade the street and install streetcar tracks on Leslie Street this week.

(They’re building new tracks to connect the future Leslie Barns streetcar maintenance and storage facility to the tracks on Queen Street East.)

More work on the project starts Monday, February 3.

To continue working on underground utility chambers at Queen Street East and Leslie Street, contractors are setting up another work zone on the southwest corner of the intersection.

They’ll occupy two lanes on the west side of Leslie for about 10 meters (30 feet) south of Queen. One lane will be available for traffic on Leslie south of Queen. The work site on the northwest corner of Queen and Leslie remains in place.

A flagperson will be present to guide traffic. The work continues to block the pedestrian crossing on the north side of the intersection. The south crossing remains open.

Work continue for about six weeks or until about March 14.

Just after 9 a.m. Monday, February 3, construction crews will be moving a crane into the work zone at Leslie and Commissioners Streets.

To access the work zone, the crane will need to cross the intersection interrupting traffic for about 20 minutes.

A “paid-duty” Toronto Police Services officer will be on site to help with this operation and to direct traffic. Passengers riding buses operating along the 83 Jones route should expect further detours or delays.

The TTC continues to detour buses operating along the 83 Jones route around the construction zone on Leslie between Eastern Avenue and Lake Shore Boulevard East.
