Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue the project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Davis Drive in Newmarket.
Starting tomorrow Monday, February 3 at 7 p.m. and all day Tuesday, February 4 and Wednesday, February 5, crews will block parts of Longford Drive to perform two days of overnight watermain work on Longford Drive.
They’ll be blocking a small segment of Longford Drive just north of Davis Drive and south of the Tim Hortons, preventing through vehicle traffic from moving Longford onto Davis. Detour signs will be in place to guide motorists around the closure.
During this work, you can only enter the Tim Hortons driveway on Davis by turning right off of Daivs. You can only exit by turning right onto Davis. Customers wishing to exit Tim Hortons and travel eastward on Davis must exit onto Longford and follow the detour signs.
During the two nights of work, expect noise.
York Region Transit will close the two bus stops north of the Tim Horton’s entrance from Longford will be closed. Passengers planning to ride YRT buses operating along the 44 Bristol and 423 Newmarket high school special routes should board buses from a stop on Davis Drive. Directional signs will guide you to the temporary bus stop.
The road reopens for traffic at 7 a.m. Thursday, February 6.
