Yesterday, Wednesday, February 19, Toronto’s City Council appointed Councillor Maria Augimieri as chair of the Toronto Transit Commission, the TTC’s board of directors. Her term of office expires Sunday, November 30. Starting Monday, December 1, Toronto’s newly elected City Council assumes its duties. The new council will appoint a new chair of the transit commission shortly after taking office.

Councillor Karen Stintz gave notice of her intention to resign as Chair in December. Councillor Stintz remains as a commissioner on the 11-member Board that consists of seven councillors and four citizens. Maureen Adamson, a citizen member of the Board, remains as vice-chair.

The commission’s next meeting is this Monday, February 24. The public portion of the meeting starts at 1 p.m. in Committee Room 2 in City Hall. You can view the agenda here.
