Highway 7 East rapidway construction
March 10 to 14

Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue to work on the project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway.

After construction slowed down for the winter, some work is resuming this week:

  • Cedarland Drive — Contractors are closing the street to traffic until the end of August.
  • at 3601 Highway 7 East — Friday, March 14 from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.: contractors will close the driveway entrance on South Town Centre Boulevard The Courtyard Lane entrance will remain open.
  • between Circa Drive and Town Centre Boulevard — One day during the week of March 10 from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.: Contractors will close eastbound curb and median lanes, one at a time.
  • at Frontenac Drive — Starting Monday, March 10 from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day: Contractors are intermittently closing east- and westbound curb lanes. Work continues until March 14.
  • Woodbine Avenue — Starting Monday, March 10 from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day: Contractors are intermittently closing north- and southbound median lanes. Work continues until March 14.
  • between Allstate Parkway and Highway 404 — One day during the week of March 10 from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.: Contractors will intermittently close east- and westbound lanes. Work continues until March 14.
  • between Highway 404 and Chalmers Road — Starting Monday, March 10 from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day: Contractors are closing the westbound curb lanes and east - west crosswalks. Traffic control staff will be on site to help pedestrians when necessary. Work continues until March 14.
  • between East Beaver Creek Road and Saddlecreek Drive — Starting Monday, March 10 from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day: contractors are closing southbound curb lanes north of Highway 7 at Saddlecreek Drive, Valleymede Drive and East Beaver Creek Road. Work continues until March 14.

TTC passengers riding buses operating along the 24 Victoria Park, 68 Warden and 224 Victoria Park North routes and York Region Transit passengers riding buses operating along the Viva pink, Viva purple, 1 Highway 7 and 300 Business express routes should expect detours or delays.
