Pioneer Village Station:
Weekend lane closures on Jane Street

TTC contractors continue to work on the project to extend the 1 Yonge - University - Spadina subway northwest beyond Downsview to York University and Vaughan.

Starting Friday, September 26 at 7 p.m. and continuing weekends until Thanksgiving, Monday, October 13, crews will block traffic lanes on Jane Street north of Steeles Avenue West to connect sewers. Weekend construction blocks Jane Street traffic from 7 p.m. Fridays, until 7 a.m. Mondays.

During the work, expect construction-related noise from trucks and equipment. One lane will always remain open in both directions on Jane Street during the work. The lane restrictions will not affect the southbound turning lanes on Jane Street at Steeles Avenue West.

The City of Vaughan has amended its noise by-law to allow the contractor to perform overnight and weekend work when necessary to reduce disrupting traffic, businesses and residents over the long term and to keep the project on schedule.

The work blocks part of the sidewalk on the east side of Jane north of Steeles West. Pedestrians may use a temporary path.

During lane restrictions on Jane Street, transit passengers should expect delays along these routes:

  • Brampton Transit buses operating along the 501 Züm Queen route;
  • TTC buses operating along the 35 Jane route; and
  • York Region Transit buses operating along the 20A Jane route.
