Davis Drive rapidway construction:
Starting October 29

Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue the project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Davis Drive in Newmarket.

Over the next several weeks, crews are working on the south side of Davis Drive between east of Parkside Drive / Longford Drive to east of Niagara Street to:

  • install storm sewers;
  • widen the road;
  • install new curbs; and
  • pave the base-layer of asphalt

Mondays to Fridays from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day. At times, they may work overnight and weekends.

Businesses remain open during this work. Vehicles may enter off Niagara Street to accessing 350 Davis Drive. Crews will temporarily close the sidewalk on the south side of Davis between east of Parkside to east of Niagara.

Expect crews to intermittently close Niagara Street and Lorne Avenue as they install storm sewer and widen across the road.

York Region Transit may relocate bus stops outside of each construction zone as work progresses.

During Davis Drive rapidway construction, expect delays for:

  • GO Transit express buses operating along the 65 Newmarket / Toronto route; and
  • York Region Transit passengers riding local buses operating along the 44 Bristol, 50 Queensway, 54 Bayview, 55 / 55B Davis Drive, 58 Mount Albert, 223 Newmarket GO shuttle and 520 / 521 Newmarket community routes.
