Revised Monday-to-Friday service,
December 22 to January 2



During the weeks before and after Christmas, people travel less often by transit. Classes are over until the new year, students are off and many people take vacation days to enjoy the holidays.

With fewer passengers, local transit systems are decreasing or modifying their services to save on resources — drivers and vehicles. Brampton Transit, MiWay, Oakville Transitand York Region Transit are decreasing Monday-to-Friday rush-hour service, while Burlington Transit, Durham Region Transit, Grand River Transit, Guelph Transit and the TTC are decreasing services Mondays to Fridays at various times throughout the day.


The transit agencies are modifying service along these routes:

Brampton Transit is decreasing the frequency of service along four regular routes, Mondays to Fridays from Monday, December 22 until Friday, January 2, 2015, except holidays. It’s also supporting GO Transit’s “early homebound” rush-hour by scheduling earlier buses on another route Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24 and New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, December 31.

7 / 7A Kennedy

Brampton Transit is decreasing the frequency of service along the route Mondays to Fridays during rush hours from Monday, December 22 until Friday, January 2, 2015, except holidays. Buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route every 10 minutes, instead of every 7½ minutes, south of Heart Lake Terminal.

92 Bramalea GO shuttle

Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24 and New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, December 31, Brampton Transit supports GO Transit’s “early homebound” rush-hour service by scheduling earlier buses along the route. Buses meet earlier GO trains operating along the 31 Kitchener line at Bramalea GO Station.

Brampton Transit is decreasing the frequency of service along the route Mondays to Fridays during rush hours from Monday, December 24 until Friday, January 11, 2014, except holidays. Buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route every 10 minutes, instead of every 7½ minutes, south of Trinity Common Terminal.

502 Züm Main

Brampton Transit is decreasing the frequency of service along the route Mondays to Fridays during rush hours from Monday, December 22 until Friday, January 2, 2015, except holidays. Buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route every 10 minutes, instead of every 9 minutes.

It’s also decreasing the frequency Monday-to-Friday midday. Buses serve stops along the route every 15 minutes, instead of every 14 minutes, from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

511 Züm Steeles

Brampton Transit is decreasing the frequency of service along the route Mondays to Fridays during rush hours from Monday, December 22 until Friday, January 2, 2015, except holidays. Buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route every 10 minutes, instead of every 7 minutes.

It’s also decreasing the frequency Monday-to-Friday midday. Buses serve stops along the route every 15 minutes, instead of every 10 minutes, from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

GRT is decreasing service on several routes and revising services on other at various times of the week

111 Ainslie St. - Conestoga College express

GRT is cancelling all service along the route from Monday, December 22 until Friday, January 2, 2015.

Regular service resumes Monday, January 5, 2015.

12 Conestoga Mall / Fairview Mall

Mondays to Fridays from Monday, December 22 until Friday, January 2, 2015, except holidays, GRT is decreasing the frequency of service north of the University Avenue and King Street North Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

Southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops between Conestoga Mall and University Avenue West west of King Street North every 30 minutes, instead of every 15 minutes, during morning rush hours. Northbound buses serve the stops every 30 minutes, instead of every 15 minutes, during afternoon rush hours.

It’s also isn’t operating the northbound buses that usually leave Westmount Road West west of Highland Road West at 7:50, 7:57, 8:50 and 9:43 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. The buses end their trips on University Avenue West east of Seagram Drive 8:02, 8:09, 9:09 and 9:55 a.m.

It’s also cancelling the northbound bus that usually leaves Fairview Park Mall at 8:45 a.m. Mondays to Fridays and ends its trip on University West east of Seagram at 9:25 a.m. and all other extra trips to and from the university.

GRT is also canceling all extra trips serving passengers traveling to and from Conestoga College’s Waterloo campus, the University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University’s Waterloo campus.

11 Country Hills

From Monday, December 24 until Friday, January 4, 2013, except holidays, GRT is decreasing the frequency of service along the route Mondays to Fridays during rush hours. Buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route every 30 minutes, instead of every 15 minutes, during rush hours.

Regular service resumes Monday, January 5, 2015.

10 Fairview Park Mall - Conestoga College

Friday, December 19 is the last day this year that GRT operates the southbound bus that usually starts its trip on Manitou Drive south of Homer Watson Boulevard at 9:35 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. (The bus usually ends its trip on the Conestoga campus at 9:48 a.m.

It’s also cancelling all other extra service to and from the college.

Officially, this is what the TTC has announced — “regular weekday service”. However, in previous years, the TTC has decreased the frequency of service along many routes because it expects fewer passengers to be riding transit vehicles during the holidays.

All buses start or end their trips at Main Street North and Davis Drive.

18 Bur Oak

From Monday, December 22 until Friday, January 2, 2015, YRT does not operate extra trips along the route for passengers traveling to and from Bur Oak Secondary School and Pierre Elliot Trudeau High School. Buses do not divert from the regular route to operate along White’s Hill Avenue, Cornell Rouge Boulevard, Morning Dove Crescent, Cornell Centre Boulevard, 16th Avenue, Stoney Stanton Road, Micehlina Terrace or Kenilworth Gate.

Mondays to Fridays from Monday, December 22 until Friday, January 2, 2015, YRT is not operating Viva buses along the short-turn branch of the route between Richmond Hill Centre Terminal and York University Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.

YRT is also decreasing the frequency of service along the entire route Mondays to Fridays before 7 p.m. Buses drop off or pick up passengers at all vivastations east of Richmond Hill Centre Terminal every 16 minutes, instead of every 15 minutes from the start of service until the early evening. They serve stops west of the terminal every 16 minutes, instead of every 7½ minutes, during rush hours.
