Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue the project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Davis Drive in Newmarket.
Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, January 14, crews are installing underground communications conduits in the Davis Drive boulevard between Highway 404 and just east of Patterson Street / Roxborough Road. This is a moving operation — meaning that crews will frequently relocate the construction zone to various sites along Davis Drive. However, the majority of the work takes place on the north side of Davis.
Work continues until early spring.
Crews will close curb lanes during this work. At times, they may need to excavate some construcion areas. YRT may relocate bus stops and crews may also temporarily block sidewalks. Directional signs will guide you to the nearest available bus stop or sidewalk. One sidwalk on Davis Drive will remain open at all times.
Work continues until early spring.
Starting Monday, January 19, crews will close Superior Street at Davis for several days as they install telecommunications in a ductbank under the GO rail tracks.
Work continues until January 28.
During Davis Drive rapidway construction, expect delays for:
- GO Transit express buses operating along the 65 Newmarket / Toronto route; and
- York Region Transit passengers riding local buses operating along the 44 Bristol, 50 Queensway, 54 Bayview, 55 / 55B Davis Drive, 58 Mount Albert, 223 Newmarket GO shuttle and 520 / 521 Newmarket community bus routes.
