Transit agencies revise services
after winter storm

An overnight winter storm has dumped as much as 15 centimetres (about 6 inches) of snow on parts of the Greater Toronto Area, Hamilton and the Golden Horseshoe.

Expect delays for most transit services this morning. Plan on adding extra time to your schedule to arrive at your destination, or, if possible, consider postponing or canceling your trip. Stay home, if you can.

The TTC is again replacing that streetcars that would usually operate along the 502 Downtowner and 503 Kingston Rd routes with buses.

To reduce delays for passengers during the morning commute, TTC buses that would usually serve the 45E Kipling express, 53E Steeles East express, 54E Lawrence East express, 86E Scarborough express, 95E York Mills express, 190 Scarborough Centre rocket and 199 Finch rocket routes are operating local, instead of express. That means that they stop to drop off or pick up passengers at all stops, instead of just express stops.

Northbound TTC buses operating along the 29 Dufferin route are detouring around the steep hill on Dufferin north of Davenport. They’re diverting along Dupont, Dovercourt, Davenport, Oakwood and St. Clair.

Buses operating along the 95 York Mills route (and, presumably, along the 78 St. Andrews, 115 Silver Hills and 122 Graydon Hall routes, too) are avoiding the steep hill west of Yonge Street and detouring via Bayview, Sheppard and Yonge.

Buses operating along the 87A Cosburn route are skipping the hill into and out of East York Acres.

The TTC is also limiting Wheel-Trans service only to “essential trips”.

GO Transit’s website is temporarily off line due to demand, but, before that happened, it reported that signal issues were delaying GO trains leaving the Hamilton GO Centre.
