Queensway streetcar track upgrades:
TTC detour, February 7



Update — Sunday, February 8, 5:39 a.m.: Bad weather may have forced the TTC to postpone track work yesterday.


TTC crews are maintaining the streetcar track right of way along The Queensway between Humber Loop and Sunnyside Avenue tomorrow, Saturday, February 7.

Streetcars operating along the 501 Queen route operate only as far west as Sunnyside Loop, while crews work on the tracks.

The TTC is operating shuttle buses to replace the cars. The buses operate between Long Branch Loop and Roncesvalles Avenue.

501 Queen

From 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, February 7, eastbound cars start their trips in Sunnyside Loop, then proceed:

southward along Sunnyside Avenue to The Queensway,
resuming their regular route eastward along The Queensway.

Eastbound cars skip their regular stops

  • in Long Branch Loop,
  • on Lake Shore Boulevard West at Thirty-Ninth and Thirty-Seventh Streets, Long Branch Avenue, Thirty-First, Twenty-Eighth, Twenty-Seventh and Twenty-Second Streets and Colonel Samuel Smith Park Drive, across from Fifteenth Street, at Thirteenth, Tenth, Seventh, Fifth, Third and First Streets, Royal York Road, Lake Crescent, Miles Road, Norris Crescent, Summerhill Road, across from Mimico Avenue, at Superior Avenue, across from Burlington Street and Louisa Streets and Legion Road, at Park Lawn Road, beside #2155 Lake Shore West and at Brookers Lane.
  • in Humber Loop,
  • on The Queensway at South Kingsway, east of Windemere and Ellis Avenues and Colborne Lodge Drive, at Parkside Drive and across from Glendale Avenue.

Westbound cars operate along their regular route to Sunnyside Loop,
ending their trips.

Westbound cars skip their regular stops

  • on The Queensway at Glendale Avenue and Parkside Drive, west of Colborne Lodge Drive and Ellis and Windemere Avenues and at South Kingsway,
  • in Humber Loop,
  • on Lake Shore Boulevard West across from #2095 and #2155 Lake Shore West, west of Park Lawn Road, at Legion Road, Louisa and Burlington Streets, Superior, Mimico and Hillside Avenues, Symons Street, Lake Crescent, Royal York Road, west of Dwight Avenue, at Third and Fifth Streets, Islington Avenue, Tenth, Thirteenth and Fifteenth Streets, Kipling Avenue, Twenty-Second, Twenty-Sixth, Twenty-Ninth and Thirtieth Streets and across from Long Branch Avenue, Thirty-Seventh and Thirty-Ninth Streets and
  • in Long Branch Loop.

Instead, shuttle buses replace the cars, operating between Long Branch Loop and Roncesvalles Avenue.

Buses do not operate along Lake Shore Boulevard West between Park Lawn Road and Humber Loop and stops between those destinations have no transit service from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, February 7.

Passengers can transfer from buses to streetcars on Queen Street East east of Roncesvalles Avenue / King Street West.

501 Queen bus

From 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, February 7, buses replace streetcars operating along the 501 Queen route west of Roncesvalles Avenue.

Eastbound buses start their trips in Sunnyside Loop, then proceed:

eastward along Lake Shore Boulevard West;
northward along Park Lawn Road; and then
eastward along The Queensway to Roncesvalles Avenue,
ending their trips.

Eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at these stops:

  • in Long Branch Loop,
  • on Lake Shore Boulevard West at Thirty-Ninth and Thirty-Seventh Streets, Long Branch Avenue, Thirty-First, Twenty-Eighth, Twenty-Seventh and Twenty-Second Streets and Colonel Samuel Smith Park Drive, across from Fifteenth Street, at Thirteenth, Tenth, Seventh, Fifth, Third and First Streets, Royal York Road, Lake Crescent, Miles Road, Norris Crescent, Summerhill Road, across from Mimico Avenue, at Superior Avenue, across from Burlington Street and Louisa Streets and Legion Road,
  • on Park Lawn Road north of Lake Shore Boulevard West, across from #77 Park Lawn, the eastbound ramp from the Frederick G. Gardiner Expressway and the westbound ramp from the Gardiner,
  • on The Queensway at east of Park Lawn Road, across from Aldgate Avenue and Stephen Drive, east of Stephen Drive, at South Kingsway, east of Windemere and Ellis Avenues and Colborne Lodge Drive, at Parkside Drive and across from Glendale Avenue.

The buses do not serve these regular 501 Queen stops from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, February 7:

  • on Lake Shore Boulevard West beside #2155 Lake Shore West and at Brookers Lane and
  • in Humber Loop.

(Buses operating along branches of the 66 Prince Edward route continue to drop off or pick up passengers at the stops on Lake Shore West and in Humber Loop. Buses operating along the 80 Queensway route also serve Humber Loop.)

The TTC has not provided information on how the buses loop at Roncesvalles Avenue. However on previous occasions that buses have replaced streetcars west of Roncesvalles, they have operated express — without stopping eastward along King Street West and northward along Dufferin Street, resuming service on Queen Street West west of Dufferin.

From 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, February 7, westbound buses start their trips on Queen Street West west of Dufferin Street, then proceed:

westward along Queen West and The Queensway;
southward along Park Lawn Road;
westward along Lake Shore Boulevard West; and then
northward into Long Branch Loop,
ending their trips.

Westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at these stops

  • on Queen Street West at Brock, O’Hara, Lansdowne and Sorauren Avenues, Callender Street and Triller and Roncesvalles Avenues,
  • on The Queensway at Glendale Avenue and Parkside Drive, west of Colborne Lodge Drive and Ellis and Windemere Avenues, at South Kingsway, west of Humber Loop, at Stephen Drive and Aldgate Avenue,
  • on Park Lawn Road south of The Queensway, at the westbound ramp to the Frederick G. Gardiner Expressway, at the eastbound ramp to the Gardiner, beside #77 Park Lawn and at Lake Shore Boulevard West,
  • on Lake Shore Boulevard West west of Park Lawn Road, at Legion Road, Louisa and Burlington Streets, Superior, Mimico and Hillside Avenues, Symons Street, Lake Crescent, Royal York Road, west of Dwight Avenue, at Third and Fifth Streets, Islington Avenue, Tenth, Thirteenth and Fifteenth Streets, Kipling Avenue, Twenty-Second, Twenty-Sixth, Twenty-Ninth and Thirtieth Streets and across from Long Branch Avenue, Thirty-Seventh and Thirty-Ninth Streets and

These regular westbound 501 Queen stops have no transit service from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, February 7:

  • on Lake Shore Boulevard West across from #2095 and #2155 Lake Shore West.

The buses do not stop to drop off or pick up passengers in Humber Loop, although buses operating along the 66 Prince Edward and 80 Queensway routes continue to do so.

Passengers can transfer from buses to streetcars on The Queensway west of King Street West / Roncesvalles Avenue.
