Eglinton Crosstown LRT: Allen Road
Temporary bridge deck on Eglinton West

eglinton crosstown logo.pngMetrolinx contractors are working to build the future Eglinton - Crosstown light rail transit line.

Crews are installing a temporary bridge deck on Eglinton Avenue West to facilitate crews when they move the tunnel boring machines from the extraction shaft. They’ll move the machines from the extraction shaft on the west side of Allen Road to the launch shaft on the east side. This bridge deck will help crews move the tunnel-borers and is not for the public to use.

Throughout February and March, crews will install the supports for the bridge deck in the north lanes of Eglinton in front of Eglinton West subway station. After installing the support micro-piles, they’ll add ramps and place steel beams and decking for the temporary bridge deck.

The contractors will determine when they’ll install the bridge deck closer to the date that they’ll be moving the machines from one shaft to the other.

Nearby work on the project already restricts motorists from certain traffic lanes. These lane restrictions allowed crews to build the extraction shaft and continue to build the launch shaft. Building and installing this bridge deck does not require more traffic restrictions. Work continues seven days a week, as necessary, from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. Expect noise.
