Eglinton Crosstown LRT: Don Mills
Gas-main relocation

eglinton crosstown logo.pngMetrolinx contractors are working to build the future Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line.

Enbridge Gas Distribution crews are relocating natural-gas pipelines to prepare the area for upcoming construction of the future Don Mills Station.

Don Mills is the only underground station east of Laird Drive. Since Metrolinx contractors will be tunnelling near the future station, Enbridge must relocate the natural gas mains in the area.

Its crews started to occupy a section of the roadway on Don Mills Road Tuesday, February 3. The work zone will shift as the crews reroute and install the new natural-gas pipeline. Their work will affect each road independently. They’ll work over several months and may reschedule parts of the project due to weather conditions.

They’ll restrict traffic on, or temporarily close, streets in this order, as they install the new pipeline:

  • Wynford Drive;
  • Gervais Drive;
  • Eglinton Avenue East; and
  • Don Mills Road.

They may close parts of each road during the day and open one lane of traffic at night for local residents. Driveways will be accessible. Due to the volume of traffic in this area, expect traffic delays during construction.

Enbridge will mostly work from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m., seven days a week. At times, its crews may have to work some late nights or early morning works to keep construction moving.

For the safety of transit riders, the TTC may relocate bus stops in the area. Watch for signs directing you to the nearest available bus stop.

Sidewalks remain open for pedestrians. Signs will guide you safely around the work zone.

During Crosstown construction of the future Don Mills Station, TTC passengers should expect delays for buses operating along these routes:

  • 25 Don Mills;
  • 34 Eglinton West;
  • 100 Flemingdon Park;
  • 303 Don Mills overnight; and
  • 305 Eglinton East overnight.
