Eglinton Crosstown LRT -- Holly Street:
Extraction shaft construction continues

eglinton crosstown logo.pngMetrolinx contractors are working to build the future Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit line.

Crews have started relocating underground utilities on Eglinton Avenue East at Holly Street, just east of Yonge Street. They’re getting ready to build headwalls for the future Yonge Station and a shaft where they’ll extract the tunnel-boring machines, which will, eventually, dig their way westward from Brentcliffe Road.

The next stage of work involves shifting construction to the centre lanes of Eglinton East, starting Monday, March 9.

The construction zone extends within the centre lanes of Eglinton Avenue East from just west of Cowbell Lane to west of Dunfield Avenue. The work restricts traffic to just one curb lane in each direction, while work continues in the centre lanes.

Expect traffic and transit delays. For the safety of transit passengers, the TTC will relocate both west- and eastbound bus stops in the area. Sidewalks will remain open, however, some detours may be in place. Access to all stores and businesses will remain available during construction.

Most of the work will occur from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m., seven days a week. From time to time, contractors may work overnight. Expect noise and vibration.
