Rapidway on Highway 7 West:
More construction, March 9 and 12

Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue getting ready to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Highway 7 West from west of Jane Street to east of Keele Street.

Next week, crews are reducing traffic lanes along Highway 7 West to paint new lines along the roadway after recent construction.

From 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 9, crews will paint lines at the intersection of Creditstone Road with Highway 7. They’ll restrict south- and northbound traffic on Creditstone to just one lane in each direction. They may also briefly restrict eastbound traffic on Highway 7.

From 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12, crews will paint lines and reduce traffic to just one lane for about one hour at various sites:

  • Edgeley Boulevard and Highway 7south- and northbound lanes;
  • Jane Street and Highway 7east- and westbound lanes;
  • Creditstone Road and Highway 7south-, north- and eastbound lanes; and
  • From east of the Canadian National Railway bridge for the Macmillan Yards to and east of Keele Street — potential traffic delays along Highway 7 due to a slow-moving painting truck.

Traffic-control staff will be on site during the work. Motorists and transit riders may experience traffic delays in these areas due to lane reductions.

Expect noise and vibrtion around the work area.

During Highway 7 West rapidway construction, expect delays for:

  • Brampton Transit Züm express buses operating along the 501 Züm Queen route;
  • TTC buses operating along the 35D Jane and 107 Keele North routes; and
  • York Region Transit Viva express buses operating along the Viva orange route and YRT local buses operating along the 20 Jane and 77 Highway 7 routes.
