Burlington Transit raises fares, May 1

Burlington Transit is raising its cash fares and the cost of tickets and monthly passes will increase but PRESTO fares, with the exception of the child fare, will stay the same starting Friday, May 1.

Adults — passengers between 20 and 64 years of age, seniors — passengers 65 years or older and students — passengers between 13 and 19 years all pay $3.50 cash, instead of $3.25. Children —passengers between 5 and 12 years of age — face a big fare jump to $3.50, instead of $1.90.

Using your PRESTO fare card, you’ll pay just $2.70 if you’re an adult, $1.80 if you’re a senior or student and just $1.55 if you’re a child older than 5.

As always, kids 5 years of age or younger ride the bus free of fare.
