The City of Toronto is closing
- Carlton Street west of Jarvis Street
all day Saturday and Sunday and early Monday during crane operations.
The TTC is removing its overhead streetcar wiring to accommodate the activity. It’s also detouring streetcars operating along these routes, while the street is closed:
Shuttle buses replace the cars during the detour, dropping off and picking up eastbound passengers along the route between McCaul Street and Broadview Avenue and westbound passengers between Sumach Street and University Avenue.

From 11:59 p.m. Friday, May 29 until 5 a.m. Monday, June 1, westbound cars operate along their regular route to Gerrard Street East and Parliament Street, then detour:
southward along Parliament;
westward along Dundas Street East; and then
northward along Church Street to Carlton,
resuming their regular route westward along Carlton.Westbound cars skip their regular stops
- on Parliament Street at Carlton Street and
- on Carlton Street at Ontario, Sherbourne, Jarvis and Church Streets.
Instead, westbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Parliament Street across from Oak Street and at Dundas Street East and
- on Dundas Street East at Ontario, Sherbourne, Jarvis and Church Streets.
Eastbound cars reverse the westbound detour routing.
Eastbound cars skip their regular stops
- on Carlton Street at Jarvis, Sherbourne, Ontario and Parliament Streets and
- on Parliament Street at Gerrard Street East.
Instead, eastbound cars drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Dundas Street East at Jarvis, Sherbourne, Ontario and Parliament Streets and
- on Parliament Street at Oak Street and Gerrard Street East.

From 11:59 p.m. Friday, May 29 until 5 a.m. Monday, June 1, the TTC is operating buses to replace streetcars operating along the 306 Carlton overnight and 506 Carlton routes during the detour.
Westbound buses start their trips on River Street south of Gerrard Street East, then proceed:
northward along River;
westward along Gerrard Street East;
northward along Parliament Street;
westward along Carlton and College Streets;
southward along McCaul Street;
westward along Dundas Street West; and then
northward along Beverley Street to College,
ending their trips.Westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops
- on Gerrard Street East at Sumach, Sackville and Parliament Streets;
- on Parliament Street at Carlton Street;
- on Carlton Street at Ontario, Sherbourne, Jarvis, Church and Yonge Streets and
- on College Street at Bay and Elizabeth Street, beside #100 College (Sunday only) and at University Avenue.
Eastbound buses start their trips on Beverley Street south of College, then proceed:
northward along Beverley;
eastward along College and Carlton Streets;
southward along Parliament Street;
eastward along Gerrard Street East;
southward along Broadview Avenue;
westward along Dundas Street East; and then
northward along River Street to Gerrard Street East,
