The TTC will restore “off-peak” service to 43 bus routes, most of them starting Sunday, September 6. It’s also operating buses along five routes during periods when it has never provided service before.
At its meeting last week, the Toronto Transit Commission unanimously approved the TTC staff proposal to add more service to the routes at various times of the week other than Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.
TTC staff proposed resuming “all-day, everyday” service to various routes in August 2014. They reaffirmed the proposals — and City Council endorsed them — as part of the City of Toronto’s 2015 budget. Mayor John Tory and the chair of the Toronto Transit Commission, Councillor Josh Colle announced the details of the plan at an on-street media event Sunday, May 24.
The TTC cut or eliminated service along many of these routes as part of the 2011 budget process, to satisfy City cost-cutting measures while Rob Ford was mayor. According to the TTC, residents in many neighbourhoods in Toronto could no longer use transit when travelling evenings and weekend. By restoring service along these routes during these time periods, the TTC allows residents to count on transit at any time of the day or night to travel. The goal is to change how people travel about the city and allow them to be confident that transit will always be there when they need it.
The TTC’s restoring transit service that it previously cut along all of these routes, adding most, but not all, of them to the “all-day, everyday” network of TTC services:

For the first time the TTC will operate buses along the route after 10 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. It will also operate buses all day Mondays to Fridays. Since providing service along this route during rush hours requires two more buses, the TTC won’t completely implement this service change until fall 2016, when more buses are available.
Starting in fall 2016, buses operate along the route “all day, every day”.
9 Bellamy
The TTC is resuming service after 10 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and Saturdays and after 7 p.m. Sundays and holidays. Starting in September, buses operate along the route “all day, every day”.
8 Broadview

42A Cummer (Middlefield)
The TTC is resuming service after 7 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, before 10 p.m. Saturdays and before 7 p.m. Sundays and holidays.
127 Davenport
The TTC is resuming service after 10 p.m. Sundays and holidays. Starting in September, buses operate along the route “all day, every day”.
101 Downsview Park
The TTC is resuming service along the route all day Mondays to Fridays throughout the year. Since providing service along this route during rush hours requires one more buse, the TTC won’t completely implement this service change until fall 2016, when more buses are available.

105C Dufferin North (Steeles)
The TTC is resuming service after 10 p.m. Sundays and holidays. Starting in September, buses operate along the route south of Steeles Avenue West “all day, every day”.
