TTC detouring buses near Pan Am venues,
starting June 15



The Pan Am Games don’t start for another three weeks, but already the games organizers, the City of Toronto and other host organizations are getting ready to establish security permeters and set up facilities for the various sporting events for the Pan Am Games and the ParaPan Am Games that take place a few weeks afterward.

Starting Monday, June 15, the TTC is detouring service around two of the Games venues, affecting service along these routes:

  • 106 York University; and
  • 172 Cherry St.

Starting next week, expect more TTC detours to start, affecting service along these routes:

  • 29 Dufferin;
  • 94 Wellesley; and
  • 329 Dufferin overnight.

172 Cherry St

From Monday, June 15 until Wednesday, September 30, the City of Toronto is closing:

  • Cherry Street between Mill Street and Lake Shore Boulevard East

to accommodate the Pan Am Games and ParaPan Am Games athletes’ village.

The TTC is revising the path for buses operating along the route, while the street is closed.

Westbound buses operate along their regular route to Cherry Street and Lake Shore Boulevard East, then detour:

westward along Lake Shore East; and then
northward along Parliament Street to Mill Street,
resuming their regular route northward along Parliament.

Westbound buses skip these stops until Thursday, October 1:

  • on Mill Street west of Cherry Street and at Trinity and Parliament Streets.

Eastbound buses reverse the westbound detour routing.

Eastbound buses skip these stops:

  • on Mill Street east of Parliament Street and at Trinity and Cherry Streets.
29 Dufferin

From 5 a.m. Monday, June 22 until Labour Day, Monday, September 7, Exhibition Place is closing most of its streets to through traffic to accommodate events during the Pan Am Games, the ParaPan Am Games and the Canadian National Exhibition.

While the streets are closed, the TTC is canceling service along the 29C branch of the route through Exhibition Place to and from Princes’ Gate Loop. All buses at all times of the week start and end their trips in Dufferin Gate Loop.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Saskatchewan Road east of Dufferin Street,
  • on Manitoba Drive east of Saskatchewan Road, at Nova Scotia Avenue and across from Exhibition Loop and
  • in Princes’ Gate Loop.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • in Princes’ Gate Loop,
  • on Princes’ Boulevard beside the Direct Energy Centre,
  • on Nunavut Road north of Princes’ Boulevard,
  • on Manitoba Drive across from Nova Scotia Avenue and
  • on Saskatchewan Road west of Manitoba Drive and at Dufferin Street.
329 Dufferin overnight

From 5 a.m. Tuesday, June 23 until Labour Day, Monday, September 7, Exhibition Place is closing most of its streets to through traffic to accommodate events during the Pan Am Games, the ParaPan Am Games and the Canadian National Exhibition.

The TTC is revising the path for buses operating along the route, while the street is closed. Buses operating along the route start and end their trips in Dufferin Gate Loop, instead of Princes’ Gate Loop.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Saskatchewan Road east of Dufferin Street,
  • on Manitoba Drive east of Saskatchewan Road, at Nova Scotia Avenue and across from Exhibition Loop and
  • in Princes’ Gate Loop.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • in Princes’ Gate Loop.
  • on Manitoba Drive beside Exhibition Loop and across from Nova Scotia Avenue and
  • on Saskatchewan Road west of Manitoba Drive and at Dufferin Street.
94 Wellesley

From Monday, June 22 until Saturday, August 22, the City of Toronto is closing:

  • Hoskin Avenue between Devonshire Place and Queen’s Park Crescent West

to accommodate Pan Am Games and ParaPan Am Games events on the University of Toronto’s St. George campus.

The TTC is revising the path for buses operating along the route, while the street is closed.

Eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Harbord Street and Spadina Avenue, then detour:

northward along Spadina;
eastward along Bloor Street West; and then
southward along Queen’s Park and Queen’s Park Crescent West to Hoskin Avenue,
resuming their regular route southward along Queen’s Park West.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Harbord Street at Huron and St. George Streets and
  • on Hoskin Avenue beside Wycliffe College.

Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Spadina Avenue at Sussex Avenue,
  • on Bloor Street West at St. George Street, across from Bedford Road and at Queen’s Park,
  • on Queen’s Park across from Charles Street West [beside Museum Station] and
  • on Queen’s Park Crescent West at Hoskin Avenue.

Westbound buses operate along their regular route to Queen’s Park Crescents East and West and Queen’s Park, then detour:

northward along Queen’s Park;
westward along Bloor Street West; and then
southward along Spadina Avenue to Harbord Street,
resuming their regular route westward along Harbord.

Westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Queen’s Park north of Charles Street West [beside Museum Station],
  • on Bloor Street West at Bedford Road and St. George Street and
  • on Spadina Road at Sussex Avenue and Harbord Street.
106 York University

From Monday, June 15 until Sunday, September 6, York University is closing:

  • Ian Macdonald Boulevard between Shoreham Drive and Founders Road

to accommodate Pan Am Games and ParaPan Am Games events on York’s Keele campus.

The TTC is revising the path for northbound buses operating along the route, while the street is closed.

Southbound buses operate along their regular route.

Northbound buses operate along their regular route to Sentinel and The Pond Roads, then detour:

eastward along The Pond; and then
northward along Ian Macdonald Boulevard to York Boulevard,
resuming their regular route westward along York into the Harry W. Arthurs Common.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on The Pond Road across from Sentinel Road and at Arboretum Lane and
  • on Ian Macdonald Boulevard across from Northwest Gate, Founders Road and The Chimneystack Road.
