The upcoming Pan Am Games will require the TTC to make a number of changes to its services in mid-July, but, before then, it’s already making routing changes near Pan Am venues. It’s also introducing new overnight service along Steeles Avenue West and through York University’s Keele campus to improve all-night service to key Pan Am sites on the campus.
Finally, the TTC continues to expand its “ten-minute-or-better” network of routes at off-peak periods, meaning at all times of the week, except rush hours. Buses and streetcars serving the “ten-minute-or-better” network of routes drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the routes every ten minutes — or even more frequently — at all times of the week, except overnight.

Introducing a new route
353 Steeles overnight
Starting early Monday, June 22, the TTC replaces the current 353 Steeles East route, extending service further westward to York University’s Keele campus. This introduces overnight service to the campus for the first time and makes sure that Pan Am Games visitors can travel from the campus late at night.
Eastbound buses start their trips on the Harry W. Arthurs Common on campus, then proceed:
eastward along York Boulevard;
north- and westward along Ian Macdonald Boulevard;
northward along Founders Road; and then
eastward along Steeles Avenues West and East to Yonge / Steeles Loop, resuming the former 353 Steeles East overnight route eastward along Steeles East.Westbound buses operate along the former 353 Steeles overnight route to Steeles Avenue East across from Yonge / Steeles loop, then proceed:
westward along Steeles Avenues East and West;
southward along Keele Street; and then
westward along York Boulevard to the Common,
ending their trips.
Cancelling routes
508 Lake Shore
Due to a shortage of streetcars, Friday, June 19 was the last day until September that the TTC serves the route Mondays to Fridays during afternoon rush hours.
Since it already removed service along the route during morning rush hours [in May], the TTC is effectively cancelling the route (temporarily).
Summer service ends and regular service resumes Tuesday, September 8.
353 Steeles East overnight
Early Sunday, June 21, was the last day that the TTC operated buses along the route. Starting early Monday, June 22, the TTC extends overnight service further west to York University’s Keele campus and renames the route 353 Steeles overnight.
Canceling branches of routes
29 Dufferin
Since Exhibition Place is the venue for several events during the Pan Am Games, the TTC is temporarily shortening the route for the summer. It’s also temporarily cancelling service along the 29C branch of the route to and from Princes’ Gate Loop.
It’s also increasing and decreasing the frequency of service along the route.
The TTC resumes regular service into Exhibition Place and along the 29C branch of the route, starting Tuesday, September 8.
38A Highland Creek
Friday, June 20 is the last day until September that buses operate along the 38A branch between the University of Toronto’s Scarborough Campus and Scarborough Centre Station.
All buses operating along the 38 Highland Creek route continue to serve stops between Rouge Hill GO Station and Scarborough Centre Station and continue to drop off and pick up passengers on campus throughout the summer.
Summer service ends and regular service resumes Tuesday, September 8. However, the TTC also temporarily resumes operating buses along the 38A branch of the route during the Pan Am Games.
The TTC is also increasing the frequency of service east of the University of Toronto’s Scarborough Campus and decreasing the frequency of service west of the campus.
116 Morningside
Friday, June 19 was the last day until September that the TTC operates buses along the 116B branch of the route. Buses serving the branch operate between Eglinton Avenue East / Kingston Road and Kennedy Station Mondays to Fridays only during rush hours.
Canceling the branch decreases the frequency of service along the route west of Eglinton East / Kingston.
112E West Mall express
Friday, June 20 is the last day until September that the TTC operates extra service for passengers traveling to and from Michael Power and St. Joseph Catholic Secondary Schools.
Extra high school service resumes Tuesday, September 2.
Increasing service along routes
172 Cherry St
More passengers travel to and from Clark Beach Park - we usually call it “Cherry Beach” - in the summer, so the TTC’s increasing the hours of service for buses operating along the 172B branch, serving the beach.
Starting Monday, June 22, buses serve the beach Mondays to Fridays midday. With this change, the TTC provides summer service to and from Cherry Beach every day, except Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.
The TTC provides service to and from Cherry Beach every day, except during rush hours, until Labour Day, Monday, September 7.
The TTC will also decrease service and increase the frequency of service along the route and extend and revise the path for buses operating along the route.
353 Steeles overnight
Early Sunday, June 21, was the last day that the TTC operated buses along the former 353 Steeles East overnight route. Starting early Monday, June 22, the TTC extends overnight service further west to York University’s Keele campus and renames the route 353 Steeles overnight. For the first time, the TTC operates transit service along Steeles Avenue West east of Keele Street and onto the campus 24 hours a day.
60 Steeles West
The TTC is introducing new all-night service along the new 353 Steeles overnight route to York University’s Keele campus. To maintain service to and from the campus 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, it’s also increasing service along the 60C branch of the route early Saturday mornings.
It’s also increasing the frequency of service along the route at the same time of the week.
Decreasing service along routes
172 Cherry St
To maintain the security perimeter around the athletes village for the upcoming Pan Am Games, from Monday, June 15 until Wednesday, September 30, the City of Toronto is closing:
+Cherry Street between Mill Street and Lake Shore Boulevard East.
The TTC is revising the path for buses operating along the route, while the street is closed.
Westbound buses skip these stops until Thursday, October 1:
- on Mill Street west of Cherry Street and at Trinity and Parliament Streets.
Eastbound buses skip these stops:
- on Mill Street east of Parliament Street and at Trinity and Cherry Streets.
The TTC will also increase and decrease service, increase the frequency of service along the route and extend the path for buses operating along the route.
29 Dufferin

- every 17 minutes, instead of every 18 minutes, from about noon until 7 p.m.

502 Downtowner
The TTC is expanding its ten-minute-or-better route network, improving service along this route Monday-to-Friday midday. It operates one more streetcar along the route to increase the frequency of service from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Starting Monday, June 22, the cars drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:
- every 10 minutes, instead of every 16 minutes.
Buses and streetcars operating along three different routes - 502Downtowner, 503 Kingston Rd and 22 Coxwell - serve passengers traveling to and from Kingston east of Victoria Park at various times of the week. Starting Sunday, June 21**, these passengers can enjoy 10-minute-or-better service at all times of the week, except overnight.
The TTC is also decreasing the frequency of service at another time of the day.
29 Dufferin

As a result, it’s decreasing the frequency of service west of the campus, while increasing the frequency of service east of the campus Mondays to Fridays from about 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.

94 Wellesley
From Monday, June 22 until Saturday, August 22, the TTC is revising the path for buses operating along the route, while Hoskin Avenue is closed to accommodate Pan Am Games and ParaPan Am Games events on the University of Toronto’s St. George campus.
Due to the longer, route, the TTC increases and decreases the frequency of service along the route at various times of the week.

Starting Sunday, June 21, these passengers can enjoy 10-minute-or-better service at all times of the week, except overnight.
29 Dufferin
Since Exhibition Place is the venue for several events during the Pan Am Games, the TTC is temporarily [revising the route] for the summer. It’s also temporarily cancelling service along the 29C branch of the route to and from Princes’ Gate Loop.
The shorter route requires the TTC to provide less frequent service along the route Saturday mornings.

172 Cherry St
During the Pan Am Games, more passengers will likely ride buses operating along the route to travel between the athlete’s village and Nathan Phillips Square, where several Games events take place.
Starting Saturday, July 11, the TTC extends the path for buses operating along the route. Instead of ending their trips at their usual downtown terminal on York Street south of King Street West, they’ll continue northward along York to a temporary stop just south of Queen Street West, across from Nathan Phillips Square. The buses then proceed:
eastward along Queen West; and then
southward along Bay Street to King Street West,
resuming their regular route eastward along King West.The TTC will also increase and decrease service, increase the frequency of service along the route and revise the path for buses operating along the route.
30B Lambton
Starting Sunday, June 21, the TTC extends the route into High Park Saturdays, Sundays and holidays for the summer.
Southbound buses leave High Park Station and proceed:

To maintain the security perimeter around the athletes’ village during the Pan Am Games, the City of Toronto is closing:

Instead, northbound buses drop off passengers at a temporary stop

During construction in the loop, buses operating along the 320 Yonge and 353 Steeles overnight routes do not meet, so the TTC is permitting passengers a “walking transfer” between buses operating along the two routes.
Northbound passengers riding buses operating along the 320 Yonge overnight route may exit the buses on Yonge Street across from Athabaska Avenue, and then walk north two blocks along Yonge Street to connect with 353 Steeles overnight buses.
East- and westbound passengers riding buses operating along the 353 Steeles overnight route may exit buses on Steeles Avenue at Yonge Street, then walk south to Athabaska Avenue to board southbound buses operating along the 320 Yonge route.
106 York University
From Monday, June 15 until Sunday, September 6, York University is closing:
- Ian Macdonald Boulevard between Shoreham Drive and Founders Road
to accommodate Pan Am Games and ParaPan Am Games events on York’s Keele campus.
The TTC is revising the path for northbound buses operating along the route, while the street is closed.
Southbound buses operate along their regular route.
Northbound buses operate along their regular route to Sentinel and The Pond Roads, then detour:
eastward along The Pond; and then
northward along Ian Macdonald Boulevard to York Boulevard,

More passengers travel to and from Toronto Pearson International Airport during the summer, so the TTC’s increasing the frequency of service along the route.
511 Bathurst streetcar
More passengers travel to and from Exhibition Place and other attractions on the central waterfront for the summer, so the TTC’s increasing the frequency of service along the route.
172 Cherry St
More passengers travel to and from Cherry Beach in the summer, so the TTC’s increasing the hours of service for buses operating to and from the beach.
30 Lambton
More passengers travel to and from High Park in the summer, so the TTC is extending the route into the park Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
92 Woodbine South
More passengers travel to and from Ashbridge’s Bay Park, Woodbine Beach Park and other attractions on the eastern waterfront for the summer, so the TTC is increasing the frequency of service along the route.

Adjusting the schedules for buses operating along routes
49 Bloor West
Starting Sunday, June 21, the TTC interlines at Kipling Station buses operating along the route with buses operating along the 30 Lambton route all day Sundays and holidays.
The last day for interlining the two routes is Labour Day, Monday, September 7.
142 Downtown / Avenue Rd express
Starting Monday, June 22, the TTC is adjusting the schedules for the first three trips Mondays to Fridays during afternoon rush hours to provide a more reliable service. Although it’s not changing the trip times for buses leaving Adelaide Street East and Church Street or Church Street and Richmond Street East, it is changing times from Adelaide Street East and University Avenue. Buses leave Adelaide East / University at 3:54, 4:24 and 4:54 p.m., instead of 3:58, 4:28 and 4:58 p.m.
30 Lambton
Starting Sunday, June 21, the TTC is extending the route into High Park Saturdays, Sundays and holidays for the summer.
While buses operate along the longer route, it’s also interlining them at Kipling Station with buses operating along the 49 Bloor West route all day Sundays and holidays.
The last day for the extension into the park and for interlining the routes is Labour Day, Monday, September 7.
The TTC is also decreasing the frequency of service along the route.
Making other changes to service along routes
21 Brimley
Starting Sunday, June 21, the TTC uses a new route-number / branch-letter combination to identify the main 21 branch of the route. It’s designating service between Steeles Avenue East and Scarborough Centre Station as the 21C branch of the route.
63 Ossington
Starting Sunday, June 21, the TTC uses a new route-number / branch-letter combination to identify the main 63 branch of the route. It’s designating service to and from Liberty Village as the 63A branch of the route.
The TTC is also decreasing the frequency of service along the route.
139 Finch - Don Mills
Starting Monday, June 22, buses pick up passengers at platform 15, instead of 13 in Don Mills Station bus terminal.
Buses operating to and from a Pan Am Games venue will use platform 13 this summer.
504 King
Starting Monday, June 22, the TTC distributes its roster of vehicles that support regular streetcar service along the route for the summer Mondays to Fridays during rush hours.
It’s temporarily removing two CLRVs (Canadian light rail vehicles) and two buses from extra service along the route during morning rush hours. It’s removing two ALRVs (articulated light rail vehicles - ‘bendy’ streetcars) and two buses from service during afternoon rush hours. Eighteen buses continue to operate along the route during both rush hours.
63 Ossington
Starting Sunday, June 21, the TTC uses a new route-number / branch-letter combination to identify the main 63 branch of the route. It’s designating service to and from Liberty Village as the 63A branch of the route.
67 Pharmacy
Starting Sunday, June 21, the TTC uses a new route-number / branch-letter combination to identify the main 67 branch of the route. It’s designating service to and from Ellesmere Road as the 67A branch of the route.
