Introducing a new service

Home-to-Hub

hero-home-to-hub.jpg

Starting Monday, June 29, Oakville Transit introduces an on-request transit service to replace the 5A Dundas - Sixteen Mile Creek branch of the 5 Dundas route, serving the new communities of North Oakville.

Home to Hub uses smaller-capacity buses, operating Monday to Friday, from 6 until 8:30 a.m. and from 4:30 until 7 p.m.

The buses pick you up at the end of your driveway and drop you off at the Uptown Core Terminal where you can connect with regular Oakville Transit buses operating along the 1 Trafalgar, 5 Dundas, 19 River Oaks, 20 Northridge and 24 South Common Centre routes. However, if you’re not on the sidewalk at the end of your driveway at the time you have requested, the bus will leave with out you to pick up other passengers who have reserved the same trip.

You can book by calling 905-815-2020 or e-mailing transit@oakville.ca with “Home to Hub” in the subject line. Provide:

  • your name;
  • your street address;
  • your telephone number where they can reach you;
  • days of the week that you require a bus to pick you up;
  • the time you wish to arrive at the Uptown Core terminal in the morning;
  • the time you wish to leave the Uptown Core terminal in the afternoon or evening;

You must book your trip as much as ten days and at least two business days before you plan to travel. Oakville Transit staff will follow up by phone to confirm your trip details.

The time that the bus picks you up or drops you off can vary from day to day. For example, you may need to arrive at the Uptown Core at 8 a.m. Mondays, but Tuesdays you must arrive at 7 a.m. Provide Oakville Transit with your schedule for the week. Staff will then pre-book your trips on an ongoing basis. You need only let them know when you are cancelling a trip. You can book as many or as few trips - Mondays to Fridays during rush hours - as you need.

Regular Oakville Transit fares apply and you can also use your PRESTO on the buses.

Over time, as the communities of North Oakville expand and grow, as the road networks are completed, and as demand grows, Oakville Transit says it will re-introduce conventional fixed-route transit service into established communities. Them they’ll start offering “home to hub” service in the next developing area.
