Update — Wednesday, July 15, 6:08 p.m.: DRT has revised the detour routing for southbound buses, starting today.
Region of Durham contractors are blocking traffic lanes on
- Simcoe Street North (Regional Road 2) between Rossland Road and Arlington Avenue
for a project to replace a watermain and sanitary sewer.
Until August 27, they’ll reduce Simcoe North to just one lane for northbound traffic only. Afterwards, until about September 18, they’ll open one lane to southbound traffic between Rossland Road West and Greta Street.
Durham Region Transit is detouring buses operating along this route, while the street is closed:
- 401 Simcoe.

From Monday, July 6 until Friday, August 27, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Simcoe Street North and Rossland Road, then detour:
eastward along Rossland East;
southward alongMary Street NorthMasson Street; and then
westward along Hillcroft Street to Simcoe North,
resuming their regular route southward along Simcoe.Southbound buses skip their regular stops
- on Simcoe Street North south of Rossland Road West and at Arlington Avenue.
Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops
- on Rossland Road East east of Simcoe Street North and
- on
Mary Street NorthMasson Street at Greta Street.Northbound buses
reverse the southbound detour routingoperate along their regular route to Simcoe Street North and Hillcroft Street, then detour:.eastward along Hillcroft;
northward along Mary Street North; and then
