Update — Tuesday, July 28, 3:45 p.m.: Instead of detouring at St. Clair Station, the TTC is canceling all service along the 97C and 97D branches of the route. Instead, all buses operating Monday-to-Friday midday serve the 97A or 97F branches, starting and ending their trips in Davisville Station.
The TTC is upgrading the St Clair Station lower bus terminal on Pleasant Boulevard, starting Monday, July 27.
Crews will relocate a catch basin in the terminal roadway and relocate light poles onto TTC property. In the meantime, crews will install temporary lighting. Finally, they’ll repave the bus loop roadway. They’ll mostly work from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, but may also have to work some weekends or overnight during the course of the project. You can also expect some noise and vibration to result from the construction.
The TTC says it will protect the safety of passengers and other pedestrians by setting up a chain-link fence around work areas. The sidewalk and station entrance from Pleasant Boulevard will remain open during construction.
The TTC is detouring buses operating along these routes, while the lower bus terminal at St. Clair Station is closed:
Buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops on the north side of Pleasant Boulevard, beside the bus loop, while the terminal is closed. The City of Toronto will reduce the number of parking spaces on parts of Pleasant Boulevard to allow the buses to “lay over” — pause between trips — on the street during the construction.
The construction does not affect subway service along the 1 Yonge - University line. Streetcars operating along the 512 St Clair route or buses operating along the 312 St Clair overnight route, which serve passengers from the upper terminal at the station, off St. Clair Avenue East.
Construction and detours continue until December.
