The Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival in Toronto dominates the list of special events affecting transit services this weekend.
Other special events take place in Barrie, Brampton, the Downsview area of Toronto, the Georgetown area of Halton Hills, Hamilton, the Lindsay area of Kawartha Lakes and Milton.

Barrie’s annual celebration of arts, music, crafts and culture takes place all weekend along the shores of Kempenfelt Bay (Lake Simcoe) in downtown Barrie.

Monday, August 3, unlike most statutory holidays, Barrie Transit is operating buses along all routes every hour from about 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Kempenfest Park ‘n’ Ride Express shuttles
From 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, August 1, Sunday, August 2 and Monday, August 3, Barrie Transit is operating free bus service from three locations in Barrie to the event. You can park at one of the shuttle terminals and ride a shuttle bus to the event from:
- Allandale Recreation Centre (Bayview and Little Avenues). From 9 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Saturday, August 1, Sunday, August 2 and Monday, August 3, buses leave the recreation centre parking lot every 30 minutes from Allandale, stopping only at Allandale Waterfront GO Station and then returning to Allandale Recreation Centre.
- Barrie Curling Club (Essa Road and Anne Street): From 9 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Saturday, August 1, Sunday, August 2 and Monday, August 3, buses leave every 30 minutes from Anne Street beside the curling club, stopping only at Allandale Waterfront GO Station and then returning to the club.
- Bayfield Mall (Bayfield and Coulter Streets). From 9 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Saturday, August 1, Sunday, August 2 and Monday, August 3, buses leave every 30 minutes from Coulter Street behind the mall, stopping only at Allandale GO Station and then returning to the mall. (The buses do not enter the mall parking lot.)
Waterfront Shuttle
From 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday, August 1, Sunday, August 2 and Monday, August 3, Barrie Transit also operates free shuttle buses to and from the downtown Barrie Transit Terminal.
The buses operate on a circular, counterclockwise route.
Inbound buses start their trips at Minet’s Point Road and Lakeshore Drive, then proceed:
northward along Lakeshore and Toronto Street;
eastward along Simcoe Street;
northward along Mary Street; and then
eastward into the Downtown Barrie Transit Terminal.Inbound buses drop off or pick up passengers:
- on Lakeshore Drive west of Minet’s Point Road, at Southshore Community Centre, and across from Tiffin and Victoria Streets and
- in Downtown Barrie Terminal,

Saturday mornings and early afternoons until October 10, the City of Brampton is closing
- Main Streets North and South between Nelson and Wellington Streets
to accommodate the city’s weekly farmers market.
Brampton Transit is detouring service during the market.
2 Main
From 5:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, August 1, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Main Street North and Nelson Street, then detour:
westward along Nelson Street West, passing, but not stopping at, the Downtown Transit Terminal,
southward along George Streets North and South; and then
eastward along Wellington Street West to Main South,
resuming their regular route southward along Main.Southbound buses skip their regular stop

Tiger-Cats Express shuttles

GO is operating extra buses along this branch of the route Saturday, August 1, so that passengers traveling to and from Guelph and Acton can connect with the extra trains operating along the 31 Kitchener line at Georgetown GO Station.
An extra eastbound bus leaves the University Centre terminal on the University of Guelph campus at 10:35 a.m. It ends its trip in Georgetown GO Station bus terminal at 11:30 a.m.
An extra westbound bus leaves Georgetown at 8:12 p.m. It ends its trip in Guelph at 8:57 p.m.
GO is also detouring buses operating along the route Saturday, August 1 during the Georgetown Farmers Market.

A special eastbound train leaves Georgetown GO Station at 11:45 a.m. It picks up passengers at all stops to Union Station. It then continues to Exhibition GO Station, ending its trip at 1:08 p.m.
A special westbound train leaves Exhibition at 6:39 p.m. It drops off passengers at all stops to Georgetown, ending its trip at 8:04 p.m.
GO is also operating extra buses along the 30 Kitchener / Bramalea and 31 Guelph / Georgetown / Toronto routes so that passengers west of Georgetown can also travel to and from the parade.

All day Saturday, August 1, streetcars operate more frequently than usual to accommodate the large numbers of people heading to and from the parade.
The TTC usually sets up crash gates and assigns extra staff to handle the crowds at Exhibition Loop. Passengers pay their fares when they enter the loop and can board streetcars through both the front and rear doors.
2 Bloor - Danforth subway
Although the TTC has not announced any extra service this year, expect extra trains along the line all day Saturday, August 1.
Caribbean Carnival express shuttles
After 8 a.m. Saturday, August 1, express shuttles whisk parade-goers from the 1 Yonge - University or 2 Bloor - Danforth subway lines to the lakeshore. The buses operate without stopping every two to four minutes from:
- Keele Station along Keele Street and Parkside Drive to Parkside and Lake Shore Boulevard West. (Buses drop off and pick up passengers on the south side of Lake Shore West near the Palais Royale and footbridge.) You won’t need to pick up a transfer when you pay your fare to connect with the subway or buses at Keele Station.
- Lansdowne Station along Lansdowne Avenue, Queen Street West and Jameson Avenue to Lake Shore Boulevard West. (Buses stop on the south side of the westbound lanes of Lake Shore, then loop north along Dunn and Springhurst Avenues to Jameson.) You’ll need to pick up a transfer when you pay your fare to connect with the subway or buses at Lansdowne Station.
108 Downsview
The TTC is providing extra service along the route all day Saturday, August 1.
29 Dufferin
All day Saturday, August 1, buses operate more frequently than usual, especially south of Dufferin Station to accommodate the large numbers of people heading to and from the parade.
All buses start and end their trips in Dufferin Gate Loop during the parade.

The TTC is providing extra service along the route all day Saturday, August 1.

All day Saturday, August 1, the TTC operates more frequent service along the route between Dundas West Station and Roncesvalles Avenue at Queen Street West / The Queensway. Short-turn streetcars operate along Dundas Street West and Roncesvalles, then head west along The Queensway to Sunnyside Loop to turn around.
