Caledonia Road construction:
TTC detour, starting August 6

Starting tomorrow, Thursday, August 6, the City of Toronto is closing parts of:

  • Caledonia Road, southbound lanes, between Eglinton Avenue West and Innes Avenue

to accommodate a project to repair the sidewalks and repave the roadway.

The City is also improving the TTC’s bus-stop loading areas during the work.

The TTC is diverting buses operating along this route, while the street is closed:

Construction takes place in two phases, so the TTC has also planned for different detour routings in each of the two phases:

  • Phase 1, from Wednesday, August 6 until Tuesday, September 8, with construction taking place between Eglinton Avenue West and Summit Avenue; and

Northbound buses operate along their regular route.

To accommodate the longer route, the TTC will change its service levels during certain time periods. At most times of the week, service remains the same as currently. However, Mondays to Fridays before 3 p.m. and Saturdays before 7 p.m., buses operate less frequently.

Mondays to Fridays during rush hours, the TTC operates service along three branches of the route. Buses serving the 47B and 47C branches operate along different paths between Caledonia / Orfus Roads and Yorkdale terminal. Both branches serve passengers between Orfus Road and St. Clair Avenue West. All branches operate south of St. Clair West. At all other times of the week, just the 47B branch operates north of St. Clair.

During rush hours, starting Thursday, August 6, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops:

  • every 19 minutes, instead of every 18 minutes, north of Caledonia and Orfus Road;
  • every 9½ minutes, instead of every 9 minutes, between Orfus and St. Clair Avenue West; and
  • every 4 minutes 45 seconds, instead of ever 4½ minutes south of St. Clair West.

Midday, from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., buses serve stops:

  • every 16 minutes, instead of every 15 minutes, north of St. Clair; and
  • every 8 minutes, instead of every 7½ minutes, south of St. Clair West.

Saturdays before 7 p.m., starting Saturday, August 8, buses serve stops:

  • every 20 minutes, instead of every 18 minutes, north of St. Clair; and
  • every 10 minutes, instead of every 9 minutes, south of St. Clair.
