Update — Thursday, December 10, 6:01 p.m.: Construction has ended and TTC buses have resumed service through the loop.
Starting Monday, August 17, the TTC is starting the second phase of a project to repair concrete and expansion joints, waterproof and repave the bus loop roadway at Spadina Station
During this work, crews block to traffic, including buses:
- the northbound traffic lanes on the east side of Spadina Road just north of Bloor Street West; and
- the station loop.
They’re “excavating” — digging out — a section of the northbound roadway and the entire bus loop roadway to expose sections of the station roof below and repair them. They’ll shift all traffic to the southbound lanes, restricting traffic to just one south- and one northbound lane through the work zone. (A later phase of the project requires crews to block traffic on the west side of Spadina.)
Crews typically work 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., Mondays to Fridays. Occasionally they’ll also work Saturdays 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
While work blocks traffic lanes and the bus loop, the TTC is also detouring buses operating along this route:
- 127 Davenport.
Construction on this phase of the project and TTC detours continue until December.

From Monday, August 17 until December, buses do not enter Spadina Station bus loop.
Southbound buses drop off passengers on the west side of Spadina Road beside the west station entrance.
Northbound buses pick up passengers on the east side of Spadina north of the east station entrance.
Plan ahead. Remember, if you pay your fare by cash, to pick up a paper transfer to present to the driver when you board the buses on the street.
After southbound buses leave the station area, they proceed:
southward along Spadina Road and Avenue, then
loop around Spadina Crescent; and then
proceed northward along Spadina Avenue and Road to the station area.To accommodate the longer route, the TTC will change its service levels. At most times of the week, passengers benefit from more frequent service. However, buses serve stops less frequently late evenings, seven days a week and early Saturday mornings.
Starting Monday, August 17, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:
- every 16 minutes, instead of every 17 minutes, Mondays to Fridays during morning rush hours;
- every 20 minutes, instead of every 24 minutes, from about 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.;
- every 18 minutes, instead of every 20 minutes, during afternoon rush hours;
- every 20 minutes, instead of every 22½ minutes, from about 7 until 10 p.m.; and
- every 24 minutes, instead of every 20 minutes, after about 10 p.m.
Starting Saturday, August 22, buses serve stops along the route:
- every 24 minutes, instead of every 22½ minutes, Saturdays before about 8 a.m.;
- every 20 minutes, instead of every 22½ minutes, from about 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.; and
- every 24 minutes, instead of every 20 minutes, after about 10 p.m.
Starting Sunday, August 23, buses serve stops:
- every 20 minutes, instead of every 22½ minutes, Sundays and holidays from about 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.; and
