The TTC has announced that its eighth Bombardier Flexity low-floor streetcar started regular service to passengers during afternoon rush hours today, Tuesday, August 11.
The new streetcar, #4409, started dropping off or picking up passengers along the 509 Harbourfront and 510 Spadina routes this afternoon.
The new car includes PRESTO fare-card machines and ticket validators to let passengers use the cards to pay their fares. The machines also allow passengers without a card to buy a single-ride proof-of-payment ticket with coins or tokens.
With the “POP”, or proof-of-payment, system, passengers with a transfer, a valid TTC pass or another proof of payment may board streetcars at any door at any time. Both 509 Harbourfront and 510 Spadina are POP routes..
