Derry Road underpass construction:
Milton Transit detours, August 21, 22



The Region of Halton and the Town of Milton are closing:

  • Derry Road West (Regional Road 7) between Scott Boulevard and Bronte Street South

Friday evening and early Saturday during a regional project to build an underpass beneath the Canadian National Railway’s Halton subdivision tracks.

Overnight, crews will be “installing the final asphalt” — paving — the roadway under the new bridge.

Milton Transit is detouring buses operating along these routes, while the road is closed:

  • 6 Scott; and
  • 7 Harrison.

7 Harrison

From 5 p.m. Friday, August 21 until 5 a.m. Saturday, August 22, Milton Transit cancels service along the route. Buses operating along the 6 Scott route replace regular service along the route south of Derry Road West on Scott Boulevard, Dymott Avenue and Savoline Boulevard.

These regular route 7 stops have no Milton Transit service after 5 p.m. Friday:

  • eastbound on Derry Road West east of Savoline Boulevard, at Rayner Court, Scott Boulevard and Bronte Street South, east of Ontario Street South, at Cargill Path, Holly Avenue and Brothers Crescent; and
  • westbound on Derry Road West across from Brothers Crescent, at Holly Avenue, across from Cargill Path, east of Ontario Street South and west of Bronte Street South.

Buses operating along the 2 Main route continue to drop off or pick up passengers at these regular route 7 stops:

  • westbound on Derry Road West beside Milton District Hospital and at Farmstead Drive.

Buses operating along the 3 Trudeau route continue to drop off or pick up passengers at these regular route 7 stops:

  • southbound on Thompson Road South at Childs Drive; and
  • northbound on Thompson Road South at across from Childs Drive.

Buses operating along the 4 Thompson / Clark route continue to drop off or pick up passengers at these regular route 7 stops:

  • southbound on Thompson Road South at Childs Drive, across from McCuaig Drive, at Laurier Avenue, across from Costigan Road and at Derry Road West; and
  • northbound on Thompson Road South at Field Drive, Costigan Road, Laurier Avenue and McCuaig Drive and across from Childs Drive.

Buses operating along the 6 Scott route temporarily drop off or pick up passengers at these regular route 7 stops, after 5 p.m. Friday:

  • southbound on Scott Boulevard south of Derry Road West, at McDougall Crossing, Fennamore Terrace and Dymott Avenue;
  • westbound on Dymott Avenue at Fowles Crescent [west] and Savoline Boulevard; and
  • northbound on Savoline Boulevard across from Merkely Gate and south of Potts Gate, McDougall Crossing and Derry Road West.

Buses operating along 8 Willmott route continue to drop off or pick up passengers at these regular route 7 stops:

  • eastbound on Derry Road West east of Santa Maria Boulevard and west of Ontario Street South; and
  • westbound on Derry Road West west of Ontario Street South, at Commercial Street and Farmstead Drive and east of Bronte Street South.
6 Scott

From 5 p.m. Friday, August 21 until 5 a.m. Saturday, August 22, Milton Transit combines routes extends service along the route so that buses serve the southern end of the 7 Harrison route.

Inbound buses leave Dymott Avenue east of Savoline Boulevard, then proceed:

northward along Savoline to Derry Road West,
resuming their regular route northward along Savoline.

Inbound buses serve all regular stops, but also drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops:

  • on Dymott Avenue at Savoline Boulevard and
  • on Savoline Boulevard across from Merkely Gate and south of Potts Gate, McDougall Crossing and Derry Road West.

Outbound buses operate along their regular route to Scott Boulevard and Derry Road West, then detour:

southward along Scott; and then
westward along Dymott Avenue to Savoline Boulevard,
ending their trips.

Outbound buses skip their regular stop

  • on Derry Road West west of Scott Boulevard.

Instead, outbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Scott Boulevard south of Derry Road West, at McDougall Crossing, Fennamore Terrace and Dymott Avenue and
  • on Dymott Avenue at Fowles Crescent [west] and Savoline Boulevard.

Inbound buses operate toward downtown.

Outbound buses operate away from downtown.
