Elm Drive East Mississauga construction:
MiWay detours start August 31



Update — Monday, March 14, 2016, 5:09 p.m.: Starting Monday, March 14, contractors shift the work zone to block **Elm Drive East east of Obelisk Way. (The City of Mississauga is installing a new storm sewer there, while Peel contractors continue upgrading the watermains.) MiWay is revising the detour routing for buses operating along the 8 Cawthra route. Construction continues until Thursday, June 30.


Update — Tuesday, April 19, 2016, 10:41 a.m.: The Region is expanding the project to include work on Robert Speck Parkway West, starting Monday, April 25. GO and MiWay are detouring buses.


Update — Friday, March 11, 2016, 2:47 p.m.: Construction continues until Sunday, March 13.


Update — Friday, January 29, 2016, 6:04 a.m.: Construction continues until Friday, March 11.


Update — Friday, October 30, 7:23 p.m.: Starting Monday, November 2, contractors shift the work zone to block the entire intersection of Elm Drive East and Mississauga Valley Boulevard. MiWay is revising the detour routing for buses operating along the 8 Cawthra route. Construction continues until Saturday, January 30.


The City of Mississauga is closing:

  • Elm Drive East between Mississauga Valley Boulevard and Obelisk Way

starting Monday, August 31 during a Region of Peel construction project to replace the water mains.

MiWay is detouring buses operating along these routes, while the street is closed:

  • 3 Bloor; and
  • 8 Cawthra.

Construction and detours continue until January 16 30, March 11 13 June 30, 2016.

From Monday, August 31 until Saturday, January 16 30, Friday, March 11, Sunday, March 13, Thursday, June 30, 2016, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Elm Drive West and Hurontario Street, then detour:

southward along Hurontario; and then
eastward along Central Parkway East to Mississauga Valley Boulevard [west],
resuming their regular route southward along Mississauga Valley.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Elm Drive East east of Hurontario Street and at Mississauga Valley Boulevard.

Instead, eastbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Central Parkway East east of Hurontario Street.

Westbound buses reverse the eastbound detour routing.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Mississauga Valley Boulevard north of Central Parkway East and
  • on Elm Drive East west of Obelisk Gate and at Hurontario Street.

Instead, westbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Central Parkway East at Hurontario Street.
8 Cawthra

From Monday, August 31 until Saturday, January 16, 2016 Sunday, November 1, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Elm Drive West and Hurontario Street, then detour:

southward along Hurontario;
eastward along Central Parkway East; and then
northward along Mississauga Valley Boulevard to Elm Drive East,
resuming their regular route north- and eastward along Mississauga Valley.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Elm Drive East east of Hurontario Street and at Mississauga Valley Boulevard.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Central Parkway East east of Hurontario Street and
  • on Mississauga Valley Boulevard north of Central Parkway East.

Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour routing.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Elm Drive East west of Obelisk Gate and at Hurontario Street.

Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Central Parkway East at Hurontario Street.

From Monday, November 2 until Saturday, January 30, Friday, March 11, Sunday, March 13, 2016, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Elm Drive West and Hurontario Street, then detour:

northward along Hurontario;
eastward along Burnhamthorpe Road East; and then
southward along Arista Way to Mississauga Valley Boulevard,
resuming their regular route eastward along Mississauga Valley.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Elm Drive West at Hurontario Street,
  • on Elm Drive East east of Hurontario Street and at Mississauga Valley Boulevard and
  • on Mississauga Valley Boulevard across from Kaneff Crescent.

Instead, southbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Hurontario Street across from Matthews Gate and at Burnhamthorpe Road East,
  • on Burnhamthorpe Road East just east of Hurontario Street.

Northbound buses reverse the southbound detour routing.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Elm Drive East west of Obelisk Gate and at Hurontario Street.

Instead, northbound buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Hurontario Street south of Matthews Gate and at Elm Drive West.

From Monday, March 14 until Thursday, June 30, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Elm Drive West and Hurontario Street, then detour:

southward along Hurontario;
eastward along Central Parkway East; and then
northward along Mississauga Valley Boulevard to Elm Drive East,
resuming their regular route north- and eastward along Mississauga Valley.

  • on Elm Drive East east of Hurontario Street and at Mississauga Valley Boulevard.
