Davis Drive rapidway construction:
August 27, 28

Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue the project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Davis Drive in Newmarket.

Today, Thursday, August 27 and tomorrow, Friday, August 28, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day, crews continue paving along Davis Drive. Today and tomorrow, they’re concentrating on the Davis Drive and Patterson Street /Roxborough Road area, paving the north curb lane from 655 Davis [KFC] to 713 Davis, including part of Patterson Street, just north of Davis.

  • intermittently closing access to 655 Davis [KFC, east entrance], 665 Davis, 665A Davis and 713 Davis [west entrance] as they pave a layer of asphalt across each entrance.
  • reopening access to the properties, once the asphalt has cooled;
  • paving a small portion of Patterson just north of Davis:
  • They’re staging the paving to keep the intersection open during the operation.
  • Driveways off Patterson will not be impacted by this work.
  • Expect delays as crews move equipment through the intersection.
  • A “paid-duty” York Regional Police officer is onsite to manage traffic at the intersection.
