Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue the project to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Davis Drive in Newmarket.
Today, Monday, August 31 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., crews are shifting traffic on Davis Drive at Patterson Street / Roxborough Road to its final configuration. Once they’ve finished today, permanent changes to traffic regulations come into effect. This is the last intersection where crews have to reconfigure the traffic lanes during this project.
Drivers can only turn right into and out of driveways between 713 Davis and Lundy’s Lane. Crews are removing the temporary cut-through lane at 665A Davis. Both east- and westbound motorists may U-turn at Patterson Street. “Paid-duty” York Regional Police officers will be onsite to manage traffic flow. However, expect traffic delays and construction-related noise.
You can no longer turn left into 665A Davis and 713 Davis. You can only turn right into and out of the properties. To access 713 Davis, U-turn at Roxborough Road or Huron Heights Drive.
After today, you can only turn left at a traffic light when the left-turn arrow at a signal is visible. However, you can U-turn from the left-turn lane at most intersections with signals from the left-turn lane.
During all phases of Davis Drive rapidway construction, expect delays for GO Transit buses operating along this route:
- 65 Newmarket / Toronto.
Also expect delays for York Region Transit buses operating along these routes:
- 44 Bristol;
- 50 Queensway;
- 54 Bayview;
- 55 / 55B Davis Drive;
- 58 Mount Albert;
- 223 Newmarket GO shuttle; and
- 520 / 521 Newmarket community bus.
