Richmond Hill Centre Terminal’s the site for York Region Transit’s celebration of ten years of Viva bus rapid transit service, this Tuesday, September 15.
York Region launched Viva in September 2005. It designed the service to be reliable, passenger-friendly and faster than conventional service. To achieve that, it introduced a proof-of-payment system to speed up exiting from and boarding buses. It also set up traffic-priority systems at major intersections to reduce delays at red lights and a variable messaging system, offering real-time bus arrival information at every vivastation.
From 2 until 7 p.m., join YRT and Viva staff and bus operators, York Region Environmental Services and Smart Commute Markham, Richmond Hill at the event.
You’ll find a photo booth, information on YRT/Viva and PRESTO services, a water refill station, popcorn and candy.
You can also pick up limited-edition collectible #Viva10 buttons at the event.
