Take Back the Night Bowmanville:
DRT, GO detours September 15



The Municipality of Clarington is closing:

  • King Streets East and West Bowmanville between Ontario and Scugog Streets;
  • Scugog Streets North and South between Church and King Streets;
  • Church Streets East and West between Ontario and Scugog Streets; and
  • Ontario Streets North and South between Church and King Streets

Tuesday, September 15 evening to accommodate the Take Back the Night Bowmanville early-evening walk to support Bethesda House, a local shelter for abused women and their children.

Durham Region Transit is detouring buses operating along these routes, while the street is closed:

  • 501 Aspen Springs; and
  • 502 Liberty.

The event also likely affects GO Transit service along these routes, although GO has not announced detour-routing information:

  • 90 Lakeshore East; and
  • 91 Newcastle / Oshawa express.

From 6 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, buses operate along their regular route to King Street West and Scugog Streets, then detour:

southward along Scugog South;
eastward along Queen Streets West and East;
northward along Liberty Streets South and North;
westward along Wellington Street East;
northhward along George and Centre Streets;
westward along Lowe Street;
southward along Division Street North;
eastward along Wellington East;
southward along Liberty North and South;
westward along Queen East and West; and then
northward along Scugog South to King West,
resuming their regular route westward along King West.

Buses skip their regular stops:

  • on Church Street West east of Scugog Street North and
  • on Church Street East east of Temperance Street North.

Instead, buses drop off or pick up passengers at temporary stops

  • on Wellington Street East east of Division Street North and at Liberty Street North and
  • on Liberty Street West at King Street East.
502 Liberty

Buses operate along their regular route to Scugog Street North and Wellington Street West, then detour:

eastward along Wellington East and West to Division Street North,
resuming their regular route eastward along Wellington.

Buses skip their regular stops:

  • on Church Street West east of Scugog Street North and
  • on Church Street East east of Temperance Street North.

Instead, buses drop off or pick up passengers at a temporary stop

  • on Wellington Street East east of Division Street North.

southward along Liberty Street South;
eastward along Baseline Road;
northward along Waverly Road;
east- and northward along Roenigk Drive to King West,
resuming their regular route westward along King.

Westbound buses skip their regular stops:

  • on King Street East west of Liberty Street North and George Street and at Temperance Street North and
  • on King Street West at Scugog Street North.

Eastbound buses reverse the westbound detour routing.

Eastbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on King Street East east of Temperance and Division Streets South and at Ontario Street and Liberty Street South.

From 6 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to King Street West and Roenigk Drive, then detour:

south- and eastward along Roenigk;
southward along Waverly Road;
westward along Baseline Road West;
northward along Liberty Street South; and then
eastward along Prince Street to just east of Liberty South,
ending their trips.

  • on King Street East (westbound) west of Liberty Street North and George Street and at Temperance Street North,
