Tenth new TTC streetcar enters service

The TTC’s tenth new low-floor Bombardier Flexity streetcar, car number 4411, entered service along the 509 Harbourfront route today, Monday, September 28.

The TTC has equipped the new streetcar with PRESTO fare-card machines and ticket validators so you can pay your fares. The machines also lets passengers without a PRESTO fare card to buy a single-ride Proof-of-Payment ticket with coins or tokens.

The newest streetcars operate along the 510 Spadina and 509 Harbourfront routes. Both routes are “POP” or Proof-of-Payment routes, allowing you to board at any door, if you have a transfer or valid TTC pass.

The new car joins the other nine accessible low-floor streetcars in service along the routes. The new streetcars feature a higher passenger capacity, air conditioning and are fully accessible for passengers using mobility devices.

The TTC expects Bombardier to ship car #4412 from its plant in Thunder Bay later this week.
