Quest for Zest shuttle

Barrie Transit is offering free shuttle bus service to the “healthy aging lifestyle show” for seniors at Parkview Community Centre, Saturday, October 3.

Buses traveling to the event leave Mill Creek Care Centre at 8:05 and 10 a.m. They pick up passengers at various seniors residences and end their trips at Parkview Community Centre at 9 and 10:55 a.m.

Buses leave Parkview at 12:30 and 2:05 p.m. They end their trips at Mill Creek at 1:19 and 2:54 p.m.

The City of Brampton is closing

  • Kennedy Road South, northbound lanes between Derry Road East and Hartford Gate / First Gulf Boulevard

Sunday morning to accommodate the Brampton route of the annual run, supporting the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

The City will maintain two-way traffic on the southbound lanes.

Brampton Transit is detouring buses while the street is closed.

You can ride free of fare to and from the Sleeman Centre Friday evening after 5 p.m. by simply showing the Guelph Transit driver your game ticket.

The fair organizing committee has arranged frequent shuttle buses to and from the fairgrounds on the north-east corner of McCowan and Elgin Mills Roads. Although York Region Transit is not providing the service, you can wait for, and exit from, the buses at all regular YRT stops along the routes or at any intersection with a signal. The fare is $3.

Markville shuttle

Shuttle buses operate along McCowan Road between Markville Shopping Centre and the Fairgrounds. The bus pick-up at Markville Shopping Centre is on Highway 7 between McCowan Road and the entrance into the mall property near Swiss Chalet. From about 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Sunday, October 4, the TTC splits the route into two.

In the east end, buses operate between Castle Frank and Wellesley Stations only.

In the west end, eastbound buses operate along their regular route to Harbord Street and Spadina Avenue, then detour:

Northward along Spadina Avenue and Road; and then
eastward into Spadina Station, ending their trips.

Westbound buses start their trips in Spadina Station bus terminal, then proceed:

southward along Spadina Road and Avenue to Harbord Street,
resuming their regular route westward along Harbord.

(Note that, although this is what the TTC has announced as its detours, it may use another detour routing, since construction is supposedly blocking bus access to Spadina Station terminal.)

Scotiabank Nuit Blanche

The City of Toronto is closing

  • various streets in downtown and central Toronto Saturday evening and early Sunday morning to accommodate the all-night entertainment and arts festival.

The TTC is operating overnight subway service along all of Lines 1 and 2 during the event. It’s also operating its usual overnight bus and streetcar service and detouring regular and overnight bus and streetcar service to accommodate event-goers.

The City and TTC are encouraging passengers to park at TTC lots and take the bus, streetcar or subway to and from the various activities.The TTC is relaxing its rule against commuters parking at the lots after 2 a.m. early this Sunday morning and offering free parking.

GO Transit is also operating extra trains along all lines.

GO is operating an extra train in each direction — southbound Saturday, October 3 evening and northbound early Sunday, October 4.

Going to Nuit Blanche:

  • Saturday, GO is operating a special southbound train from Allandale Waterfront GO Station. The train leaves Allandale at 4:35 p.m. and serves all stations along the line, ending its trip in Union Station at 6:13 p.m.

Going home:

  • Early Sunday, GO is operating a special northbound train from Union Station at 2:20 a.m. The train serves all stations along the line, ending its trip in Allandale at 3:45 a.m.

GO is operating extra buses along the route to help passengers between Guelph and Georgetown to connect with trains along the 31 Kitchener line at Georgetown GO Station.

  • Saturday, GO is operating an eastbound bus that leaves the University Centre terminal on the University of Guelph campus at 3:45 p.m. It ends its trip in Georgetown GO Station bus terminal at 4:45 p.m. (The eastbound train leaves Georgetown at 5 p.m.)

Trains operate along the entire line all night from late Saturday, October 3 until 9 a.m. Sunday, October 4.

The TTC operates extra buses along the route between York University and Downsview Station to increase the frequency of service Saturday, October 3 evening and early Sunday, October 4.

Toronto Fire Fighters Memorial

The City of Toronto is closing all lanes of

  • Queen’s Park Crescent East between Grosvenor and College Streets

Sunday afternoon to accommodate the Toronto Professional Fire Fighters Association’s annual memorial service.

The TTC is likely detouring bus services during the event.

(The TTC has not confirmed the detour-routing information. This post describes how it detoured buses in 2014 during this event.)

From about 1 until 3 p.m. Sunday October 4, southbound buses operate along their regular route to Queen’s Park Crescent West and the off-ramp to Wellesley Street West, then detour:

eastward along Wellesley Street West to Queen’s Park Crescent East,
ending their trips.

Southbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Queen’s Park Crescent West at Hart House and the University of Toronto Library and
  • on Queen’s Park Crescent East north of College Street.

Northbound buses start their trips at Wellesley Street West and Queen’s Park Crescent East, then proceed along their regular route northward along Queen’s Park East.

Northbound buses skip their regular stops

  • on Queen’s Park Crescent East north of College Street and at Wellesley Street West.

The TTC is also detouring buses during the CIBC Run for the Cure.
