GO Transit is replacing rail ties “that are nearing the end of their life span” on the 01 Lakeshore West line so that, it says, “it can continue to provide reliable service to customers” until mid-December. The ties keep tracks stable and hold the rails in place to make sure they properly align with the wheels of the train.
During the work, GO is reducing the frequency of service along the entire line between Aldershot GO Station and Union Station from every 30 minutes to hourly each evening after from 8 p.m. It’s operating hourly trains every evening from Sunday, November 1 until Friday, November 6, from Tuesday, November 10 until Friday, December 4 and from Tuesday, December 8 until Tuesday, December 15.
