GO decreasing all Lakeshore West service,
evenings, starting November 1

GO Transit is replacing rail ties “that are nearing the end of their life span” on the 01 Lakeshore West line so that, it says, “it can continue to provide reliable service to customers” until mid-December. The ties keep tracks stable and hold the rails in place to make sure they properly align with the wheels of the train.

During the work, GO is reducing the frequency of service along the entire line between Aldershot GO Station and Union Station from every 30 minutes to hourly each evening after from 8 p.m. It’s operating hourly trains every evening from Sunday, November 1 until Friday, November 6, from Tuesday, November 10 until Friday, December 4 and from Tuesday, December 8 until Tuesday, December 15.

Mondays to Fridays, the eastbound train that usually leaves Aldershot GO Station at 9:31 p.m. does not operate. Westbound trains that usually leave Union at 8:13, 9:13, 10:13 and 11:13 p.m. do not operate.

Saturdays and Sundays, the eastbound trains that usually leave Aldershot at 9:31 and 10:31 p.m. do not operate. Westbound trains that usually leave Union at 8:13 p.m., 9:13 p.m., 10:13 p.m. and 11:13 p.m. do not operate.

GO trains operating along the 09 Lakeshore East line and GO buses operating along the 12 Niagara Falls / Burlington, 15 McMaster and 18 Lakeshore West routes that usually connect with the trains at Burlington or Aldershot GO Stations, continue to operate with their regular schedules. Some passengers should expect to wait as long as 30 minutes longer than usually for the connecting trains to arrive in the stations.

From Friday, November 6 until Monday, November 9, Friday, November 20, from Monday, November 23 until Wednesday, November 25 and from Friday December 4 until Monday, December 7, trains operate along the line with regular schedules. GO is cancelling all service between Mimico GO Station and Union Station Saturday, November 21 and Sunday, November 22.

GO has already reduced evening service to every hour — but only between Aldershot and Oakville Stations — since Tuesday, October 13.
