YRT revises routes and services,
November 1



York Region Transit is making minor changes to its services, starting today, Sunday, November 1.


YRT is revising service along these routes: 9 Ninth Line; 20A Jane; 32 Aurora South; 84 Oak Ridges; 90 Leslie; 98 Yonge; 201 Markham GO shuttle; 202 Unionville GO shuttle; 301 Markham express; 303 Bur Oak express; 402 Bur Oak / Pierre Elliot Trudeau high school special; 410 Markham District high school special via Carlton; 411 Markham District high school special via Box Grove; 415 Stouffville District high school special; 429 Cardinal Carter / Aurora high school special; 760 Vaughan Mills / Wonderland.


Specifically; YRT is: increasing service along routes; decreasing service along routes; increasing the frequency of service along a route; decreasing the frequency of service along routes; revising the path for buses operating along routes; reducing seasonal service along routes; adjusting the schedules for buses operating along routes; and making other changes to service along routes.


Increasing service along routes


32 Aurora South

YRT is revising the path for buses operating to and from Cardinal Carter Catholic High School Monday-to-Friday school days.

Starting Monday, November 2, buses drop off or pick up passengers at new stops (for this route):

  • on Bloomington Road West at Yonge Street,
  • on Yonge Street at Coons Road,
  • on Coons Road at Grovepark Street, across from Cynthia Crescent and at Bloomfield Trail and
  • on Bloomfield Trail across from Fern Valley Crescent and at Bloomington Road West.

YRT is also making another change to service along the route.

303 Bur Oak express

YRT is operating buses on new trips in both directions along the route Mondays to Fridays.

Starting Monday, November 2, two buses leave Bur Oak Avenue beside Mount Joy GO Station at 6:28 and 7:35 a.m. Mondays to Fridays. They end their trips in Finch GO Bus Terminal at 7:15 and 8:22 a.m.

With this change, two buses both leave Mount Joy at 6:28 a.m.

Another leaves platform 12 in Finch GO Bus Terminal at 5:40 p.m. It ends its trip on Bur Oak Avenue across from Mount Joy GO Bus Station at 6:22 p.m.

YRT is also adjusting the schedule of the route.

402 Bur Oak / Pierre Elliot Trudeau high school special

YRT operates an extra bus along the route to reduce crowding near Bur Oak Secondary School Monday-to-Friday school-day afternoons.

The new bus leaves Bur Oak Avenue east of Dogwood Street (beside Bur Oak Secondary) at 3:08 p.m. It ends its trip on Kenilworth Gate at The Barley Lea Street at 3:36 p.m. With this change, two buses both leave Bur Oak Secondary at 3:08 p.m.

YRT is also adjusting the schedule for buses operating along the route.

429 Cardinal Carter / Aurora high school special

YRT is revising the path for buses operating along the route.

Starting Monday, November 2, the morning bus drops off or picks up passengers at new stops (for this route):

  • on Bayview Avenue at Old Colony Road,
  • on Old Colony Road at Aubergine Street, across from Tiger Lily Street, at Lebovic Drive [east] and Birdsong Street, west of Nantucket Drive and at Yonge Street.

The afternoon bus drops off or picks up passengers at new stops (for this route):

  • on Old Colony Road at Carousel Crescent, across from Lebovic Drive [west], at Picnic Street, across from Lebovic Drive [east] and at Tiger Lily Street and Bayview Avenue.

YRT is operating a southbound bus along the route Monday-to-Friday afternoons to reduce crowding at St. Robert’s Catholic High School.

Starting Monday, November 2, the bus starts its trip on Leslie Street north of Highway 7 at 2:40 p.m. It ends its trip in Don Mills Station bus terminal at 3:05 p.m.

Starting Sunday, November 1, YRT increases the frequency of service to every 45 minutes, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

It’s also increasing service along the route to provide extra service to passengers traveling to and from Vaughan Mills [mall] for peak seasonal shopping days.

Sundays, November 1, 8, 15, 23 and 29 and New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1, 2016, southbound buses leave Vaughan Mills Terminal at 11:15 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 7:30 p.m. They end their trips in Finch GO Bus Terminal at 11:51 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 8:07 p.m.

Northbound buses leave Finch at 10:30 and every 45 minutes until 6:45 p.m. They end their trips in Vaughan Mills Terminal at 11:04 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 7:20 p.m.

Saturdays, November 7, 14, 22 and 28, southbound buses leave Vaughan Mills at 10:15 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 9:30 p.m. They end their trips in Finch GO Bus Terminal at 10:54 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 10:06 p.m.

Northbound buses leave Finch at 9:30 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 8:45 p.m. They end their trips in Vaughan Mills Terminal at 10:09 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 9:24 p.m.

“Black Friday”, Friday, November 27, southbound buses leave Vaughan Mills at 7:45 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 9:15 p.m. They end their trips in Finch Terminal at 8:18 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 9:49 p.m.

Northbound buses leave Finch at 7 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 8:30 p.m. They end their trips in Vaughan Mills Terminal at 7:31 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 9:01 p.m.

Saturdays, December 5, 12 and 19 and January 2, 2016, southbound buses leave Vaughan Mills at 9:30 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 10:15 p.m. They end their trips in Finch GO Bus Terminal at 10:09 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 10:48 p.m.

Northbound buses leave Finch at 8:45 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 9:30 p.m. They end their trips in Vaughan Mills Terminal at 9:24 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 10:09 p.m.

Sundays, December 6, 13, 20 and 27, southbound buses leave Vaughan Mills at 10:30 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 8:15 p.m. They end their trips in Finch Terminal at 11:06 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 8:48 p.m.

Northbound buses leave Finch at 9:45 and every 45 minutes until 7:30 p.m. They end their trips in Vaughan Mills Terminal at 10:19 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 8:05 p.m.

Monday, December 21 until Wednesday, December 23 and Monday, December 28 until Wednesday **December 30, southbound buses leave Vaughan Mills at 9:15 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 10 p.m. They end their trips in Finch Terminal at 9:50 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 10:34 p.m.

Northbound buses leave Finch at 8:30 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 9:15 p.m. They end their trips in Vaughan Mills Terminal at 9:03 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 9:46 p.m.

Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24 and New Year’s Eve, Thursday, December31, southbound buses leave Vaughan Mills at 9:15 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 6:15 p.m. They end their trips in Finch Terminal at 9:50 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 6:55 p.m.

Northbound buses leave Finch at 8:30 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 5:30 p.m. They end their trips in Vaughan Mills Terminal at 9:03 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 6:06 p.m.

New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1, 2016, southbound buses leave Vaughan Mills at 11:15 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 7:30 p.m. They end their trips in Finch Terminal at 11:51 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 8:07 p.m.

Northbound buses leave Finch at 10:30 and every 45 minutes until 6:45 p.m. They end their trips in Vaughan Mills Terminal at 11:04 a.m. and every 45 minutes until 7:20 p.m.

Buses do not operate along the route Christmas Day, Friday, December 25.

Starting Sunday, November 1, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

  • every 45 minutes, instead of every hour, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

Decreasing the frequency of service along routes


20A Jane

With the end of the season at Canada’s Wonderland, YRT is cancelling the extra trips that it operates along the route Saturdays, Sundays and holidays during late spring, summer and early autumn.

Starting Sunday, November 1, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

  • every 26 minutes, instead of every 25 minutes, Sundays and holidays before about 11 a.m.;
  • every 26 minutes, instead of every 19 minutes, from about 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.; and
  • every 36 minutes, instead of every 26 minutes after about 7 p.m.

Starting Saturday, November 7, the buses serve stops along the route:

  • every 26 minutes, instead of every 20 minutes, Saturdays before about 11 a.m.;
  • every 20 minutes, instead of every 16 minutes, from about 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.; and
  • every 25 minutes, instead of every 23 minutes, after about 7 p.m.

98 Yonge

YRT is improving the “on-time performance” of buses - the reliability of the service that buses it provides along the route.

Starting Monday, November 2, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops along the route:

  • every 34 minutes, instead of every 33 minutes, Mondays to Fridays during afternoon rush hours.

32 Aurora South

YRT is revising the path for buses operating to and from Cardinal Carter Catholic High School Monday-to-Friday school days.

Starting Monday, November 2, buses drop off or pick up passengers at stops on Bloomington Road West and Academy Drive, instead of operating along Academy and looping on school property.

Buses serving passengers traveling to and from the school operate along their regular route to Bloomington West and Academy, then proceed:

eastward along Bloomington West;
southward along Yonge Street;
westward along Coons Road; and then
northward along Bloomfield Trail to Bloomington West,
resuming their regular route westward along Bloomington.

Monday-to-Friday school-day mornings, the bus starts its trip on Bayview Avenue north of Old Colony Road, then proceed:

westward along Old Colony to Yonge Street,
resuming their regular route northward along Yonge.

At Cardinal Carter Catholic High School, the bus drops off or picks up passengers at stops on Bloomington Road West and Academy Drive, instead of operating along Academy and looping on school property.

The morning bus operates along its regular route to Bloomington West and Academy, then proceeds:

eastward along Bloomington West;
southward along Yonge Street;
westward along Coons Road; and then
northward along Bloomfield Trail to Bloomington West,
resuming its regular route westward along Bloomington.

The afternoon bus starts its trip on Bloomington Road West at Academy Drive, then proceeds along its usual route to Yonge Street and Old Colony Road. It then proceeds:

Adjusting the schedules for buses operating along routes


303 Bur Oak express

Starting Monday, November 2, the bus that usually leaves Finch GO Bus Terminal at 5:30 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, leaves, instead five minutes earlier, at 5:25 p.m. from platform 12 in the terminal. It ends its trip on Bur Oak Avenue across from Mount Joy GO Station at 6:07 p.m.

YRT is also increasing service along the route.

402 Bur Oak / Pierre Elliot Trudeau high school special

Starting Monday, November 2, the buses that usually leave Church Street west of Country Glen Road at 7:28 and 7:29 a.m. Monday-to-Friday school days leave, instead, four minutes earlier at 7:24 and 7:25 a.m.

They arrive on Bur Oak Avenue across from Dogwood Street and Bur Oak Secondary School 7:42 and 7:43 a.m. They arrive on Bur Oak across from McCaul Street and beside Pierre Elliot Trudeau Secondary School at 8 and 8:01 a.m. They end their trips in Angus Glen Community Centre loop at 8:05 and 8:06 p.m.

The earlier trips improve service for passengers traveling to the two high schools, which recently adjusted their arrival bell times.

YRT is also increasing service along the route.

90 Leslie

Starting Monday, November 2, the northbound bus that usually leaves Leslie Street south of Highway 7 at 6 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leaves, instead, five minutes later at 6:05 a.m. The bus ends its trip in Richmond Green High School loop at 6:22 a.m.

The later trip improves service for passenger transferring from a bus operating along the Viva pink route.

301 Markham express

Starting Monday, November 2, the bus that usually leaves Finch GO Bus Terminal at 5 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, leaves, instead, five minutes later at 5:05 p.m.

201 Markham GO shuttle

Starting Monday, September 21, the buses that usually leave 16th Avenue west of Main Street North Monday-to-Friday mornings leave six minutes earlier than usually.

The buses leave 16th and Main at 5:41, 6:19, 6:54 and 7:24 a.m. They end their trips on Main Street North at Ramona Boulevard - across from Markham GO Station - at 6:06, 6:44, 7:19 and 7:49 a.m.

The earlier trips improve service for passengers connecting at Markham GO Station with GO Transit trains operating along the 71 Stouffville line.

9 Ninth Line

Starting Monday, November 2, the northbound bus that usually leaves Box Grove Plaza at 5:41 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, leaves, instead, three minutes later at 5:44 p.m. The bus ends its trip in Parkview Village at 6:02 p.m.

The later trip improves service for passengers connecting with at Ninth Line and Church Street with a bus operating along the 303 Bur Oak express route.

415 Stouffville District high school special

Starting Monday, November 2, the bus that usually leaves Stouffville District High School at 3:55 p.m. Monday-to-Friday school-day afternoons leaves, instead, five minutes later at 4 p.m. It ends its trip on Millard Street across from Automall Boulevard at 4:32 p.m.

The later trip improves service for passengers traveling from the high school, which recently adjusted its dismissal bell time.

202 Unionville GO shuttle

Starting Monday, September 21, the buses that usually leave Woodbine Avenue south of Rodick Road at 5:57 and 6:28 a.m. Mondays to Fridays leave, instead at 5:52 and 6:25 a.m.

They end their trips in Unionville GO Station bus terminal at 6:17 and 6:55 a.m.

The earlier trips improve service for passengers connecting at Unionville GO Station with GO Transit trains operating along the 71 Stouffville line.

Making other changes to service along routes


32 Aurora South

Starting Monday, November 2, YRT is revising dial-a-ride service for the 32 Aurora South and 84 Oak Ridges routes to allow passengers to travel directly between YRT or Viva stops within a defined boundary, instead of just to stops on the fixed route.

This is pilot program to connect passengers with buses operating along other YRT or Viva routes. Call 1-844-667-5327 so that a Customer Service Representative can help you plan your trip.

Use the service to travel anywhere within the Aurora South and Oak Ridges local dial-a-ride service areas:

  • Mondays to Fridays from 6:30 until 11 p.m.; and
  • Saturdays from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

To book a ride during dial-a-ride hours, call 1-844-667-5327 at least an hour before your trip. However, you may have to wait as long as an hour to let the dial-a-ride vehicle to complete other trips. Dial-a-ride service operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

You may also book future trips in advance. Call dial-a-ride at 1-844-667-5327 from 6 a.m. until midnight any day of the week, including holidays.

Regular YRT / Viva fares apply to dial-a-ride. The vehicle operator can accept all YRT / Viva fare media including PRESTO fare cards, tickets, passes and exact change. They will also issue you a transfer if you wish to connect with another YRT or Viva vehicle. Note that PRESTO is only available on dial-a-ride for Routes 32 and 84 only.

84 Oak Ridges

Starting Monday, November 2, YRT is revising dial-a-ride service for the 32 Aurora South and 84 Oak Ridges routes to allow passengers to travel directly between YRT or Viva stops within a defined boundary, instead of just to stops on the fixed route.

Use the service to travel anywhere within the Oak Ridges local dial-a-ride service area:

  • Mondays to Fridays from about 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

And, use it to travel anywhere within both the Aurora South and Oak Ridges local dial-a-ride service areas:

  • Mondays to Fridays from 6:30 until 11 p.m.; and
  • Saturdays from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

To book a ride during dial-a-ride hours, call 1-844-667-5327 at least an hour before your trip. However, you may have to wait as long as an hour to let the dial-a-ride vehicle to complete other trips. Dial-a-ride service operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

Regular YRT / Viva fares apply to dial-a-ride. The vehicle operator can accept all YRT / Viva fare media including PRESTO fare cards, tickets, passes and exact change. They will also issue you a transfer if you wish to connect with another YRT or Viva vehicle. Note that PRESTO is only available on dial-a-ride for Routes 32 and 84 only.

YRT is also revising the path for buses operating along the route.
