Metrolinx and York Region contractors continue getting ready to build a rapidway — bus-only lanes in the centre of the roadway — along Highway 7 West from west of Jane Street to east of Keele Street.
From 7 a.m. until 3 p.m., Saturday, November 28, crews are:
- restricting traffic to just one eastbound lane between Hillside Avenue and the bridge carrying GO Transit’s Barrie line across the highway.
- cleaning up the work site and removing earth piles.
- temporarily blocking driveways on the south side of Highway 7
They’re also:
- restricting traffic to just one westbound lane between Jane Street and Edgeley Boulevard.
- installing boulevards.
Flag persons will be on-site to help pedestrians and motorists travel safely through the area. Expect construction-related noise from equipment and trucks.
From 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. each day, starting Monday, November 30, crews are:
- installing the remaining poles in the intersection of Highway 7 with Edgeley Boulevard / Interchange Way.
- intermittently closing right lanes. (Motorists may still turn left).
Expect construction-related noise from equipment and trucks.
Work at Highway 7 / Edgeley / Interchange continues for about two weeks or until December 13.
During Highway 7 West rapidway construction, also expect delays for:
- Brampton Transit Züm express buses operating along the 501 Züm Queen route;
- TTC buses operating along the 35D Jane and 107 Keele North routes; and
- York Region Transit Viva express buses operating along the Viva orange route and YRT local buses operating along the 20 Jane and 77 Highway 7 routes.
